dragons of stone

dragons of stone
in our town,
relics of an ancient battle.

we see them
piss and spit,
lean and sit on them.

their dragon hearts
made of stone,
life and death of stone.

they look fearful
in the night,
immortal, undead and unliving.

I walk up to their king,
trembling,
I put my hand on his heart
to see if it was beating.
