Calming down with a song,

Dance parties for one,

The sunlight on my bed as I read

And the smell of baking.

Movies with a simple plot,

That perfect cup of steaming tea.

The clouds passing me by

And that exquisite aching.

The wait for something good,

The joy of a kind deed done.

The chirping of birds and the

Smell of the rain on the soil.

The frustrations of art,

A whiff of a fragrance,

The spirit of service and

The reward of hard toil.

Poet’s note: The challenge for Day 18 of NaPoWriMo was to write an ode to life’s small pleasures. While this isn’t an ode in its form, I hope it still captures the feel!
