Trust
October 30, 2009: Senior Year of High School
I thought I could trust her-
that’s why I told her.
She knew I thought I could trust her-
that’s why she listened.
But not only did she listen;
she made it very clear before I even spoke
that she would most definitely NOT say a word
and that I know I can trust her.
So I told her.
And now I regret it.
Because today at the end of class,
he told me that I have a really big mouth
and that he doesn’t like it…
and that she told him that I told her.
So of course I feel bad.
Not because he’s mad at me,
because he’s not.
No, it’s because I now know that I cannot trust one of my closest friends.
I asked her to keep a secret,
and she let me down.
But wait-
isn’t that the same thing I did to him?
…and didn’t the original person ask HIM not to say anything, either?
