Coronavirus in The Netherlands — Update 21 March 2020

One week has gone by since the rules have been sharpened here in The Netherlands. And since there are many more cases here.

This afternoon, 21 March 2020, the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment, RIVM, has announced we have 637 Coronavirus cases and 30 death — within 24 hours. There are 354 patients on Intensive Care. We have in total of 575 IC-beds for those patients. Now we have 3631 cases, 836 people in the hospital and 136 dead people.

People are standing in a row at the stores — even when people are still going to the beach and markets — even when we are not allowed to go. We have to stay at home as much as possible.

The director of the National Railway company warns everybody to stay home as much as possible, as the trains are for those who are going to work and have important jobs (you can’t stay home from those). There were still people going out.

Also, there are still Dutch people abroad. They will get back as soon as possible when the ministry of Abroad. There are also travelers apart from travel organizations who are still abroad. Per the case, they will see how they will get back to The…
