People speaking on the importance of vulnerability isn’t exactly new. It’s been happening since at least the 90s and for good reason. It really can make or break your relationship.

Vulnerability in most contexts is defined as something negative, but in the context of relationships it’s about being willing to show your emotions and weaknesses to others, especially when you are not sure how someone is going to react.

When Paulo Coelho wrote, “The strongest love is the love that can demonstrate its fragility,” one would find it pretty hard to deny this.

If you have something to hide, you hide it because you think it will destroy your relationship and be the end of love. But the truth is that your relationship is rotting from the inside out because you refuse to be transparent.

The problems you face, the moments of cringe you’d rather not talk about are the very things that, if expressed, can help you know whether or not the person you’re with is actually rocking with you or not.

Moreover, when you lay your heart on the line and your partner sticks by your side, your relationship has just taken a giant step in the right direction. There will be more trust, less fear and therefore more inner peace and love for one another.
