Some people have fantasies of winning the lottery or finally making it on the big stage, but, as a teacher, I have a simple fantasy. It’s the fantasy of My Perfect School. A utopian university, if you will.

I like to conjure up this dynamic dream from time to time and wistfully wish that one day it would come true.

Now, before you jump ahead, keep in mind that this is MY fantasy. And in my fantasy, I’m allowed to suspend logistics, budgets, security, and political agendas.

Public education facilities will be of the top priority and money is no object.

I am a high school teacher, so this fantasy will be the perfect high school.

In my fantasy, I focused on what works for my family and me AND research-based solutions to help ALL students and teachers. This is a tuition-free public school where ALL students are welcomed.

Enjoy!

When I picture my perfect school, I envision a sprawling building spread out over a lush green field.
