And how to “Be Yourself”?

What does “being yourself” mean? How can you be yourself? And when and how do you know that you are not being yourself?

“Being Yourself”, according to me, is how you would behave in front of one or more people like you did alone and feel safe, loved, and confident about how you are.

If you’re not feeling confident while you are being yourself, it’s probably because you’re not feeling safe, and you’re afraid of not being loved because of the way you are behaving.

If you’re feeling safe but not loved, it’s probably because you’re feeling judged or you’re afraid that you’ll be judged. Or maybe you’re not resonating anymore.

If you’re feeling safe and loved but not confident, it’s because you’re in an uncomfortable situation, i.e., out of your comfort zone.

These three aspects are super interlinked, and when you don’t feel either of these three things, you’re not “Being Yourself,” or you’re not behaving as the person you are.

How can you start being yourself?

  1. Becoming aware of who you are currently
  2. Ask if it resonates with you — You might think, “Of course! That’s why I am like that, right?” Not necessarily
  3. Figure out what your true self would do.
Once you’re aware of who you are and how you behave in every situation, and you understand that in some XYZ situation, you don’t want to be the way you are currently, it’s not your true self; figure out what your true self would do.
  4. Show up as yourself — Show up as your true self / higher self / more empowered self in that situation repeatedly.

I love this theory that I had. Do you resonate with this?
