Reminiscing and Retrospecting on Farewell

Clad in formal attire and looking dapper, the boys of grade 12 on 17th December stepped into the school looking forward to the most awaited day of the year-farewell. It was a day filled with a little sadness and concomitantly, elation. A day when they bid adieu to the school and reminisced about their times in the school.
Organized by the student council members of 11th grade, the event was a resounding success and left an everlasting impression on the 12th graders. There were a variety of programs organized by the juniors as a tribute to their seniors.
The first hour or so was spent by the students in taking pictures. A photo booth was also organized and a well-known professional photographer-Jason Dalmeida helped students capture the precious moments. After the photo session it was finally time for the programme to start and the students proceeded to the Sheikh Rashid auditorium.

Inside the auditorium, the students were buzzing with excitement as they awaited for the programme to commence. The programme finally started with the hosts making inside jokes and poking fun at their seniors for the final time and bringing smiles on their faces. The programme proceeded with a dance and a band performance that enthused the audience. However what followed the band performance really touched the 12th graders. The juniors made a very emotional video to pay a tribute to their seniors and thank them for always being inspiring role models. What really brought tears to their eyes though were speeches delivered by some of the students who had repeated a year in school? They explained how the hardships faced by them transformed them and advised the 12th graders to overcome every obstacle in life and not lose hope.

Then came the final segment of the programme — the dance. The students proceeded to the sports complex and danced for hours as the DJ played groovy music mixes. “It was a wonderful event. This day will forever be etched in my memory. The part that I really loved was the video made by the juniors. It was really touching. They really did a great job organising the programme,” said Vignesh, a student of grade 12 when asked about his experience. The students then bid farewell to each other and to the school and walked out looking forward to new challenges.
