By Vivek Rao, Senior Reporter for the Light House
The students of the Indian High School shone like diamonds at the prestigious Heriot-Watt University campus in Academic City on the 25th of April. The three teams that represented our school were TAP, Livbuzz and The BizzWiz Kids. They were accompanied and motivated by Mr. Leslie and were encouraged by Mrs. Meera, the activity coordinator of the 11&12 Boys section.
Over 250 students representing different schools & colleges in the UAE were present. The day began with two quiz rounds that tested the students’ general knowledge and business fundamentals. The rounds lasted two hours.
“The Business Challenge Dubai brought out the creativity in all the contestants and helped them learn how to speak in public.”
After a meal, our students were led to respective classrooms to practise their presentation. They were to present a business idea, convincing judges that their business idea was worthy. They were pit against 3 other groups from different schools. The students of the Indian High School presented extremely creative business ideas and received applause and praise. They demonstrated their “ability to analyze, evaluate and report on the generation of new business ideas”.

The students learnt the hardships faced in setting up a start-up. They showcased the values of teamwork and application of classroom learning. They dreamt of things larger than life and enthralled their audience with their meticulous planning and creative ideas. Way to go, students!
“The Business Challenge Dubai brought out the creativity in all the contestants and helped them learn how to speak in public,” one participant from IHS, Leon Agnel, said.
The day was concluded with the distribution of awards. Vivek Rao and Karthik (alumni), two students from IHS, were applauded for their skill in the General Knowledge and Business Quiz, respectively.
