People give a lot of importance to sex in an intimate relationship. But the truth is, intimacy is the freedom to be exactly who you are with each other. You just enjoy your moments together doing what you love and be extremely content in each other’s presence. Here are 11 intimate things to do, that have nothing to do with sex.

Your dreams.

Sharing your dreams that are close to your heart is one of the most intimate things you can do. Your partner will feel trusted and close to you. It doesn’t matter if the dreams you hold for yourself come true or not. But the whole act of unveiling your dream, layer after layer, is the most beautiful act of being intimate with your partner.

Talk about your fears and embarrassing moments of your life.

We’re always told never to show our weaknesses and have trained ourselves to only show our best to people. But to bond and be intimate with your closed ones, you have to open up and be who you really are. Remember that embarrassing day you slipped and fell and laughed out loud with your partner? Times like these are an indication that you’ve reached a deeper level of intimacy.

Focus only on making out.

Sometimes in our urge to have sex, we lose sight of the little joys of making out. Go all out and kiss him like no one’s watching. Don’t undress or get under the covers. Just take time to kiss each other for hours and just enjoy the moment.

Cook together.

When was the last time you cooked a delicious meal with your partner? Preparing a meal together can be fun. Cook for each other, share a few jokes, tease, smile, laugh, get messy and see how much closer you get after that.

Getting crazy drunk together.

You’re already ridiculously happy being with each other. So why not make it crazy by drinking and take it a few notches up? By embracing the stupid and silly together, you’ll accept each other at a whole new level.

Dance away to your favorite songs.

Want to see each other without the daily stress and just have fun? Make a playlist together and dance like no one’s watching. You’ll laugh, won’t be self-conscious and will open up to each other in a way you’ve probably never done before.

Embrace the silence.

We’re constantly trying to talk about our day at work or complaining about the weather. Just sitting next to each other and being comfortably silent is a sign that you’re with the right person. You don’t need to fill the void by meaningless words. You make it meaningful by fully enjoying each other’s presence.

Just hug each other for a long period.

All it takes is a warm hug to show you care and will be there for the person. Other than making one feel calm and secure, hugging and cuddling is so magical that it can make even the dullest of moments come back alive.

Gaze at each other without saying a word.

Would you become fidgety, giggle or feel uncomfortable while gazing at someone without saying a word? If you and your partner can comfortably gaze into each others eyes even for a short while, you’ll connect so much more with your partner.

Fall asleep holding each other.

Taking a nap with someone is peaceful and at the same time intimate. Just lying down comfortably next to your partner and dozing off is a beautiful feeling and in those quiet moments you can connect with each other on a deeper level.

Write notes to one another.

A handwritten note is a beautiful way of confessing your love for one another. Write a poem, remind each other of a funny incident or simply express how your partner makes you feel. In today’s day and age, taking time to write a note is a personal organic way to show that you’re grateful for your partner.
