Millennials thrive on spending money for pleasure. It doesn’t matter if they empty their pockets in the process. But they don’t realise that a lot of their money is just being wasted unnecessarily and can instead be saved for a rainy day.
If you want to start cutting back on your expenditure, here are eight things for a start.
1. The latest gadget from your favourite gadget manufacturer.
The gadget world surrounds us. Every day there is something new in the stores, and the millennial generation does everything possible to get their hands on the latest gadgets.
2. Buying bucketfuls of your favourite alcohol.
Drinking is not a millennial thing. However, millennials have made drinking a social experience. A lot of money is wasted over tens of shots of booze. All it eventually leads to is painful hangovers and a rise in personal debt.
3. All the food that doesn’t make you healthier.
The millennials don’t believe in three healthy, well-proportioned meals a day. With doorstep food delivery options, food is easily available to them whenever they want it. And no, salad and green leafy vegetables are not an option.
4. Clothes of particular brands.
Online platforms have turned shopping into a hobby for the millennials. They don’t shop anymore because they need clothes, they shop to build their identity. It’s all just about trying to fit into a specific cultural stereotype.
5. All-night house or club parties.
Millennials spend their weekends clubbing. Expensive drinks, loud music, dancing and getting into bar fights is their idea of fun. This experience takes away from everything else they could be doing on weekends.
7. Ludicrously high-priced collectibles.
There’s an obsession among millennials for vintage things and superhero collectibles. They’re ready to pay a big price for these things, as they become a part of their identity and makes them feel like they belong.
