High school relationships can be nerve-racking, but with a few simple tips, you should do alright.

High school relationships are quite delicate, because high school years are the first time that you experience romantic love. That’s why it’s as tricky as it’s beautiful. If you want to make the most of your high school relationship, here are clear do’s and don’ts that you should follow.

Do’s

1. Split the bill. According to the traditional dating rules, it’s the boy who pays the bill. But it need not be that way in high school relationships. You’re spending your parents’ money, so don’t try to pay the bill yourself.

2. Hang out in groups. When you’re in a relationship with someone from the same school, it’s important that you spend time together with friends. Otherwise, there’s a tendency to isolate yourself.

3. Take part in interesting activities. Go out and take part in activities like a beachside volleyball match with friends, hiking in the woods, or a drama class to keep your relationship healthy and exciting.

4. Listen to each other. High school is the most crucial period in a teenager’s life. If you care about your love and want to make your relationship work, listen to what your partner is saying. It helps build a beautiful bond.

Don’ts

1. Don’t give social media updates about everything happening in your relationship. Avoid the online drama as much as possible. No one needs to know everything you’re doing in life.

2. Don’t focus on buying lavish gifts for each other. Trying to impress your partner with expensive gifts is unnecessary. Let the focus be on small, simple gestures of love — that’s a good foundation for relationships.

3. Don’t do a lot of PDA. Public display of affection is something which most high school couples love doing without realizing the fact that it might be really awkward for the people around them.

4. Don’t call each other with pet names in public. Your partner might absolutely love the pet name you give them, but calling them with their pet name can make it embarrassing for them.
