When poor guys have to borrow resources in another datacenter.

In our University we have several Kubernetes clusters scattered across the campus and under the control of different Departments. However, in some cases the resources available in each cluster are not enough, and we need to leverage computing resources in another cluster in order to sustain the expected workload.

This happened during our exam session, February 2022, in which nearly 8000 students had to sustain their Computing Fundamentals exam, and each student was provided with a remote desktop environment hosted in our servers.

Guess what… we had to use Liqo to extend the cluster where the exam service was installed: a great example of cloud bursting!

Long story short: Liqo worked really smoothly and everything turned out in big success. Students and professors simply noticed how the cloud can simplify everybody’s life, while, as expected, the contribution provided by Liqo went completely unnoticed. This is really a good news for our project: Liqo proved to be a transparent technology that simplifies the life of our users.
