With so many powerful products and services already live on the DAPP Network (vRAM, LiquidAccounts, LiquidOracles, IBC, and more!), it was only a matter of time before the need arose for a user-friendly interface allowing developers to explore, assess, and obtain DSP service packages.

So we challenged the DAPP Network and the EOS community to design and build a sleek UI that would serve as a one-stop-shop for the DSP marketplace.

The results were incredible.

Seven excellent DSP Portals were submitted for the challenge.

We had 11 teams registered for the challenge, 7 of which submitted amazing portals:

Our thanks to all of the teams for dedicating themselves to the challenge and producing fantastic results.

You all did a great job, came up with many unique features for your portals, and added valuable tools for the DAPP Network to use. Though in our eyes you are all winners, the real winner of the DSP Portal Challenge is the DAPP Network.

Choosing the recipients of the first LiquidApps grant was no simple feat. Thankfully, we selected a fine panel of judges: Crystal Rose, CEO of SenseChat and shEOS co-founder; Greg Lee, VP Engineering at Block.one; and last but not least, LiquidApps’ very own CTO Tal Muskal.

The entire DAPP Network community excitedly participated in the judging process using a community vote, that together with the judges’ call decided who is walking home a winner.

Crystal, Greg, and Tal were thoroughly impressed with the submitted portals. Even though each had their own personal preference, their mutual top 3 were clear, and they were supported by the crowd vote, as well.

In the end, only three teams can be the DSP Portal Challenge winners:

🥉 3rd prize winner: DSP HQ!

“DSP HQ did a wonderful job with their DSP portal,” says Tal Muskal. “This was my favorite portal, and I have been using it myself as my default portal ever since I evaluated it.”

Here is a word from the team behind DSP HQ:

“Working on the DSP portal has been a great opportunity to dive deeper into the DAPP network software and to get a better understanding of its various components. I believe that the DAPP network is groundbreaking technology and that it will be essential in building the next generation of decentralized applications.”

~Brandon Breuil, DSP HQ

Congratulations, Brandon and DSP HQ team. You just won 300,000 DAPP tokens!*

🥈 2nd prize winner: EOS Cafe Block!

bloks.io/dsp

“I liked EOS Cafe Block portal the best,” says Crystal Rose. “It got my highest scores in terms of usability, functionality, and design.”

Well done, Syed and EOS Cafe Block team, you have honestly earned our second prize of 500,000 DAPP tokens!*

As a Block Producer who has been actively participating in EOS before the mainnet launch, our team at EOS Cafe Block is always looking for ways to develop and advance the technology behind EOS.

“The decision to participate in the challenge to create a DSP Portal for the DAPP Network was a no brainer for us, as we love the solution that the DAPP Network provided to all users. We’re proud to share our version of the DSP Portal, and to also participate by being a DSP. It’s exciting to see what lifting the current limitations on mainnet will have on the development for the blockchain network, and we’re excited to see how the DAPP Network will progress.”

~Syed Jafri, CEO of EOS Cafe Block

🥇 1st prize winner: give a big round of applause to EOS Nation!

dsp.eosnation.io

“EOS Nation’s DSP portal was highly usable and functional,” says Greg Lee. “They had the best filtering approach and I believe most people will like their UI.”

We reached out to hear what our 1st prize winner has to say about the DAPP Network.

EOS Nation thinks that the DAPP Network is laying the foundations that will open up the EOSIO ecosystem to infinite scaling possibilities and this is something we want to be a part of. Creating a great UX for a brand new platform is challenging and DAPP stakeholders have repeatedly told us we have accomplished that with the EOS Nation DSP Portal. The challenge put up by LiquidApps gave extra incentive and we are looking forward to seeing more challenges like these which inevitably bring out the talent!”

~Yves La Rose, CEO of EOS Nation

Yves and EOS Nation team, your superb DSP Portal entitles you to our grand prize: 700,000 DAPP tokens!*

*As described in the LiquidApps DSP Portal Challenge “important notes,” in order to receive the grant, the winning portals need to submit their code open source.

The Other Contenders

Even though we could only have 3 prize winners, the rest of the teams did a great job creating, upgrading, and maintaining their DSP Portals. They put in a lot of time and effort, and we would like to share our appreciation. This is what they had to say about the DAPP Network and the DSP Portal Challenge.

“LiquidApps’ contribution to the EOS blockchain is significant, so we’re excited to take part in this competition. Our DSP portal is intended to make things easier thanks to the DAPP Network.”

~Claude Lecomte, CEO of MinerGate

“At Aloha EOS, we feel that one of the most exciting things about the DAPP Network is that it helps ease the burden for developers to get their dApps up and running on the EOS mainnet by offering cheaper resources and new ways to integrate their data. This challenge was well crafted and the guidelines were easy to follow. Participating in this challenge was a lot of fun and had the added benefit of teaching us more about the DAPP Network. Thank you for the opportunity. We look forward to seeing the DAPP Network grow!”

~Nate Denning, co-founder of Aloha EOS

dsp.maltablock.org

“We are excited about the DAPP Network as it enhances the capabilities of EOSIO. With vRAM, LiquidAccounts, and LiquidOracle services, what you can build on EOSIO is only limited by your imagination!”

~Michael Gucci, founder of MaltaBlock

dsp.mest.net

“The DAPP network is still in its genesis phase. But the best portals, and the best networks behind them, will surprise us with immaculate flexibility and thoroughness despite an event-horizon scope.

“Here’s to the spaceship that will take our ideas to immortality!”

~Richard Tiutiun of Mission Control

And for the First Time: Meet LiquidNFTs

As part of the DSP Portal Challenge, and prior to exposing Crystal and Greg’s identity, we invited the community to guess who the judges might be.

Many tried, some even got their guesses right, and we decided to grant 3 participants a rare, genuine LiquidApps NFT t-shirt!

Stellabelle (@stellabelle), Josh (@jbbasics), and Nicolas (@NicolasFlamel77), congratulations! This t-shirt is on its way to you, along with a unique NFT that will allow you to brag about in both the real world and the blockchain world!

As for the rest of the DAPP Network, the DSP Portal Challenge may be over, but the era of DAPP Network UI has just begun. Keep on following, and you might just catch additional challenges (and NFTs) in the future!
