Michal Molcan in conversation with Stephen Leighton

As the specialty coffee industry grows and matures, there's been an influx of people writing and talking about coffee…tampertantrum.podbean.com
Michal Molcan editor-in-chief of Standart.
Stephen Leighton coffee roaster at Hasbean.
No background in coffee, no background in publishing, Michal Molcan editor-in-chief and founder of Standart decided one day to launch a quarterly book on coffee culture. I call it a book, if I call it a magazine, it does not do Standart justice.
No previous experience of coffee necessary to appreciate Standart.
Prior to Standart, and in part that was what gave him the idea, Michal Molcan organised and still does, a coffee festival in Bratislava. Not a trade festival, a cultural festival involving coffee.
Michal Molcan commissions the articles, but does not write himself, his only written contribution, a letter from the editor.
Launched this year, there is now a Japanese edition of Standart.
Yours truly initiated this on-line publication The Little Bicycle Coffee Shop in a similar way. Conversations with others, it was decided to launch an on-line publication dedicated to coffee culture, non-technical, no gimmicks or trends.
In part the inspiration for the germ of the idea was Standart.
