When I was 7 years old my parents took me to the birthday party of their friends’ daughter. I didn’t want to go.
I remember her name was Rebecca. She was 3 years younger than me, as were most of her guests. I hardly knew her.
Suddenly, her neighbor Angela arrived. Finally! Someone my age. We started talking and hit if off right away.
After so many years, several moves in between — in Spain and abroad — the birth of our children and other events, our friendship remains intact. Every time we are together it feels like if nothing has changed between us, as close as ever. We still laugh remembering when we secretly put on makeup in the elevator, when we spied on the boys we liked, and when we played to act out the movie Grease. Angela is sunny, determined and a truly good person. And always there, supporting me in all my endeavors.
