The Necessity of being Pro-Life to being Catholic

In the Holy Roman Catholic Church, it is essential that all of the faithful take a strong stance against the moral evil of every procured abortion. Indeed, the Catechism of the Catholic Church clearly and powerfully states that;

Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person — among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life.

Catechism of the Catholic Church 2270

Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law

Catechism of the Catholic Church 2271

Formal cooperation in an abortion constitutes a grave offence. The Church attaches the canonical penalty of excommunication to this crime against human life. “A person who procures a completed abortion incurs excommunication latae sententiae,” “by the very commission of the offence,” and subject to the conditions provided by Canon Law. The Church does not thereby intend to restrict the scope of mercy. Rather, she makes clear the gravity of the crime committed, the irreparable harm done to the innocent who is put to death, as well as to the parents and the whole of society.

Catechism of the Catholic Church 2272

So necessary is the protection of the unborn to the faith, that to fail to speak out against the evil practise of murder in the womb is punishable by excommunication. The Church’s teachings have been clear from the first century that the evil of abortion is abhorrent to God, who is God of the living. No amount of arguing can change the Church’s teaching on this matter.

I write this little post to make it absolutely clear to my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ that abortion, and the support thereof, will separate you from Christ and going to Mass and taking the Eucharist without repenting of these sins is sacrilegious.

It is out of grave concern for those in the Church that are Pro-Abortion that I write this, for according to 1 Corinthians 11:27–29, if one takes of the Eucharist in an unworthy fashion, they will be judged.

You cannot be Catholic and Pro-Abortion.

To be a Catholic in good standing, you must be Pro-Life.
