It was a Sunday afternoon when Aisha heard the sound of the front door clicking open. Aarav walked in, his face pale, his eyes heavy with a weight.
“Aarav?” Aisha called from the couch as she noticed the look on his face.
He hesitated, then sat down beside her. “I lost them,” he whispered.
“Lost what?”
“My Apple AirPods,” he said, his voice cracking. “The ones you gave me on our anniversary.”
For a moment, Aisha didn’t speak. She saw the guilt etched across his face, the way he couldn’t meet her eyes. She knew how much those AirPods meant — not just because of their price, but because they were a gift from her, something carefully picked, something given with love.
