Wait, What? The Story of a ‘Day’ in My Life
1st January has always been a day of reflection for me — a time to look back on the past year and plan for a better year ahead.
However, for the past two years, 1st January has gained a new significance. It’s not just the first day of a new year; it’s also my life partner’s birthday!
Yes, my darling man was born on 1st January. This year marked his 29th birthday — his last before we get married. I wanted it to be special but in a way that aligned with what he likes.
He’s a simple guy. Unlike me, he’s not into grand celebrations. While he has a classy taste, he finds joy in life’s little things. So, whatever I had to do, I had to make sure it was non-fancy!
My fiancé loves my brother's company. So, to celebrate, I invited my brother to join us on New Year’s Eve. Together, we planned to cut his birthday cake at midnight and ring in the new year.
Before midnight, the three of us went out to enjoy our favourite Indian street foods: golgappas (crispy fried balls with tangy fillings), chicken shawarma (originally, a middle eastern dish), and soya kathi gravy with roomali roti (soyabean with a special flatbread).
I didn’t take pictures because I was too busy savouring the moment!
