That sounds like a harsh question, doesn’t it?

I have noticed that many people tend to hide their ages. Not to stigmatize it with gender, but while some men do this too, I have observed it much more commonly among women.

I am not sure if this is more prevalent here in India, where I am from, or if it is universal, but it’s definitely common in my environment.

For some reason, many people — especially women — seem hesitant to share their true ages. Some even go as far as lying, while others just avoid the question.

Why do we feel a need to be perceived as younger?
Why is there so much stigma around getting older?

Aging is a natural part of life. Even if you look 10 years younger than your actual age, there’s no harm in letting people know the real number.

I see age as something beautiful, and I am proud to embrace mine. In fact, if I will be told I look younger than my years, I will happily tell people my true age as a point of pride.

Take my mother, for example.
She tends to hide her age, sometimes even from doctors. I always tell her that age can be crucial for medical care — doctors need accurate information to prescribe the right treatment…
