Our Pre and Actual Valentine’s

I have never talked about this before, but I feel truly blessed to have an amazing family and fiancé and even more wonderful in-laws.

As I was reminiscing about our Valentine’s celebration, I wanted to share how it went.

A Change in Plans

I had to travel to my parents’ home during Valentine’s week because it had been far too long since I last saw them. I had been with my in-laws, supporting them while my father-in-law was admitted to the hospital.

My parents live in a different city from both where I live and where my fiancé stays. Since we couldn’t be together on February 14, we had no plans for the day.

An Unexpected Celebration

On a side note, my sister-in-law, who lives in Canada, is currently in India to help take care of my father-in-law.

On the morning of February 12, she suggested to my fiancé that he take me out for a romantic evening since it was my last night before leaving for my parents’ home.

He took her advice to heart! First, he surprised me with a thoughtful gift — a collection of small presents to be opened at different times of the day, turning it into a prolonged, joyful experience for me.
