The Day an Owl Mistook Me for Its Long-Lost Cousin
I am Still Processing It!

The other day, I had a very unique experience. I was taking the elevator downstairs in our apartment building when I noticed something on the 1st floor as I passed it on my way to the ground floor.
Curious, I reached the ground floor and pressed the button for the 1st floor again. When the elevator doors opened, I saw an adult owl standing quietly on a pair of shoes in front of one of the apartments.
I stepped toward it, and it stared at me in the strangest way — almost as if I were a new kind of being it was seeing for the first time.
Out of habit — just as I do whenever I see a dog or a cat — I softly opened my arms and said, “Hello! Baby, baby, baby!” I didn’t want to scare it away; I just wanted to make sure it was okay and not hurt.
It gave me another odd look, then hopped a few steps away onto the stairs near an open window. Settling down, it kept tilting its head 180 degrees.
I didn’t have much time, so I had to leave. Oh! But before I left, I did manage to take a picture of it.
