The Nigerian Government is Such a Disappointment
Peaceful protesters advocating against bad governance were viciously attacked shows the true nature of the Nigerian government.
Prices for everything in Nigeria have risen exponentially, making it nearly impossible to survive in this country. This hyperinflation highlights the dire state of the nation and the terrible mismanagement of the Nigerian economy. It is 2024, and Nigerians still lack basic amenities. When will our leaders do the right thing?
I left Nigeria when I was fifteen and haven’t lived in the country for years, but since moving back a couple of months ago, my disappointment is hard to overstate. You can see the disappointment and hopelessness in the eyes of Nigerians. When I am out and about, it feels so hectic, with an energy that is tense, heavy, and steeped in desperation. The average Nigerian is walking a tightrope between sanity and insanity, and I don’t blame them. Sometimes, I wonder how they still find enjoyment amidst such a dire economic situation.
Why do our leaders care more about validation from Europe than creating a better life for their people? Why are our leaders so indifferent, with no regard for their own country? Nigeria is a resource-rich nation, yet our leaders would rather sell us out to vultures and imperialists whose only intention is to exploit and keep Nigeria and the rest of Africa impoverished.
