Three Litres a Day or Litter the Day

The Struggle is Real

I have been a regular at a wellness clinic since a month, working on body contouring and detoxification — because, with my wedding just around the corner, what better reason could I have to do something good for myself?

The dietician there gave me a diet chart with a stern disclaimer:
Three litres a day or litter the day.

Ideally, I should consume four litres of water daily to boost my metabolism and aid lymphatic drainage. But when I complained about how difficult it was, she relented and suggested I start with three.

But three litres a day?

That is a massive deal for someone like me, who barely drinks a glass a day.

Yes, believe it or not, I might just be the least water-drinking human you have ever heard of!

If three litres is my target for health reasons, I am guessing two litres would be a standard intake for a female of my age. But how on earth does anyone manage two litres, let alone three?

With a one-litre target, I felt more confident. To kickstart the habit, I set an iPhone reminder to sip water every 30 minutes. Thanks to this, I have increased my intake to about 3–4 glasses daily — which is roughly one litre. Progress, right?

Still, reaching three litres feels like a task. Keeping myself motivated to drink more is challenging, not to mention the frequent loo breaks that come with it.

For now, my litter days are patiently waiting for their three-litre-a-day transformation.

Wish me luck — or, better yet, pass me some tips! I am determined to overcome this hurdle.

Here’s to metabolism and lymphatic drainage!
