To Those Who Care — I Love Medium Too Much to Let It Go
This is not a clickbait title.
We have all experienced unexpected surprises from social media platforms, especially when they come from people we haven’t met in person.
Recently, I was pleasantly surprised when two of my close people on Medium—Val Garner - 🖋️ Pen name Amber Richards and Heather Bradford reached out to ask about my health. It was a touching moment, knowing that even though we haven’t met face-to-face, they genuinely care about me.
Thank you both for checking in. It got me thinking about how many people online might care about me. Maybe they just haven’t noticed my recent inconsistency on this platform yet.
So, I am writing this story specifically for those who care about me, to give them an update.
That is why this title is not clickbait.
I think everyone dislikes changes or at least feels discomfort when changes come into our lives, but there’s a saying that,
“Change is the only constant.”
None of us can have something permanent in life because everything is temporary, whether good or bad.
One such good thing in my life was — ‘enjoying the flexibility of working from home and going to the office as I pleased’.
Little did I know that it was temporary as well and couldn’t go on for long.
My manager told me about how my company, Microsoft, India has mandated 3 days a week working from the office.
The crisis strikes.
My family and I live three hours away from my office location, and I don’t want to relocate, especially since I’m getting married in a few months.
I want to be with my family for as long as possible, and my not-very-healthy mother and wedding preparations also need my attention. That’s why I’m avoiding relocating to the office location and prefer to travel frequently while staying at home.
Here’s what I decided: I will travel to my office location every week and stay with my brother in his flat near my work location for three days.
