Why for Every 47 Followers, Do I End up Following Back Just 1?
It’s not that I’m too egoistic to follow people; it’s that the following section matters a lot to me on Medium.
I‘ve previously discussed this in a story, and people loved it:

Most of us on Medium, as I have observed, follow authors and then forget about them, never engaging with them again unless their articles appear in the ‘For You’ tab.
This is where I differ.
I follow people whose multiple pieces of content touch my heart and teach me valuable lessons. I want to read their work repeatedly and have their articles recommended to me, which is why I follow them.
I truly value the power of ‘following’ list.
Don’t just follow someone and forget about it; actively engage with the authors you follow.
I am about to reach 1k followers, but only a few engage with me.
That’s why having many followers doesn’t help much; building a community is more beneficial…
