Christmas for Grown Ups!

Much like Irish cream Whiskey, Eggnog is deliciously thick and creamy, and if spiked right, will knock your socks off! Eggnog, in its various forms, has been enjoyed for centuries in England and then it made its way to America where it is now a traditional Christmas time tipple.

This recipe was gifted to me by a friend years ago. The truth is, I begged for the recipe because it was so delicious I just HAD to have it! It’s the perfect party drink to be served with a little drama, either ladled from a large beautiful punch bowl or in decorated mugs with a sprinkle of nutmeg on top. Pace yourself!

You will need:

12 egg yolks

12 egg whites

1 cup granulated sugar

13oz Brandy

26oz Rye or Dark Rum

2 cups of double cream

3 cups of whipping cream

To make:

In a large punch bowl beat the eggs yolks and sugar together until a creamy lemon colour.

Beat the egg whites until stiff. Beat three cups of whipping cream in a large bowl. Fold in the egg whites.

Then slowly add the egg whites and cream to the egg yolk mixture in the punch bowl. Chill for a couple of hours to allow the eggs to mellow. Sprinkle with grated nutmeg and place a sprig of holy on top! Serve under the Mistletoe!

Makes about 6 pints.
