The internet was the start of a new era that changed the lives of everyone in many ways. It serves as a tool for easier, faster and inexpensive communication, it’s an excellent source of information, and it made an impact on every industry changing the rules of economy and providing new opportunities for personal and professional development.

Did you know that more than half of the entire population on Earth uses the internet?

That’s more than four billion people, using social media, running their business online, buying and selling, uploading and downloading. Could you imagine what the world would look like nowadays if the internet suddenly seizes to exist?

Me neither.

There are so many benefits of the internet, and we are used to using it for almost everything all of the time. So much that there isn't a day that goes by that we are not on the internet.

Over time, as people started adapting to it, they noticed that with just a little effort the internet can make you money. The best thing is that there are many ways to do this.

With over four billion users, making money on the internet has become a dream job of the majority lately. Whether it is used as a full-time job or just to make some extra cash on the side, the internet is considered to be an immense source of affiliate programs, courses, and freelancing projects from which you can earn a significant amount of money.

No matter what your ultimate goal is — whether it’s to create a sustainable online income or chase the dream of self-employment — you must be prepared for quite the journey.

It won’t be easy at the beggining, and you will make mistakes, experience failures. After all, it is all part of the process.

The ways of how the world makes business has rapidly transformed. We are currently living in an era with no limitations of what you can achieve. There are hundreds of thousands of unique ways and business ideas for you to get into the cyber world and make money out of it. However, although it sounds amazing, you must always stay aware that this is not a simple process and there is no such thing as an online get-rich-quick scheme.

Networking marketing, pyramid schemes, and affiliate marketing scams have existed even before the invention of the internet.

Most of the quick ways to earn money people are talking about are shortcuts that don’t last forever. Moreover, they are mostly a one-time opportunity for creating a few hundred or sometimes thousands of dollars.

Another matter you should be aware of is the competition. However, this should never scare you off because there are a lot of great opportunities for the majority to make money. You should only stay unique and true to your beliefs in order to stand out from the crowd.

I have tried many different programs and ways of making money in the past. However, not all of them have paid off. In my experience, you need to not only find a way that will make you money but also find a job that is suitable for you. You should always test your options and try out different things, but you must never settle for a job that you don’t like or enjoy doing.

Here is a list of online ways I have tried out and have proved to be easy and quite profitable for me.

Start Your Own Blog / Website

If you are interested in a particular niche, you have an idea or a target audience you want to reach out to, starting your own blog/website is an incredible opportunity for doing so.

Of course, it takes time and effort.

This is a long process that takes quite some time to achieve a result and it can be a massive undertaking. However, once you get into this business, you will feel so motivated that you will never want to leave. At the end of the day, you are developing your own brand and you are working on your own dream.

Now, you may be wondering, how is this profitable? How can I make money off of it? The answer is simple — affiliate programs.

More precisely, an affiliate program is promoting someone else’s products by referring your own readers to their online store. Your profit consists of a predetermined percentage of each sale the store makes. So you must research a profitable affiliate niche and companies that will pay you to send them customers.

The essential factor in affiliate programs is that you must produce relevant content for the people looking for a product. How? Let’s say that you have your own blog with unique, valuable content that drives in targeted traffic to your webpage. This means that you will rank high and come up first when someone researches a topic of your niche. Consequently, many well-known websites would want to link to your articles in order to drive traffic to their own pages.

On the other hand, AdSense is the second most important factor in growing your blog and revenue.

If you are not familiar with it, it’s a program that allows bloggers and website owners to make money by displaying ads on their websites. Recently, online advertising has become a slightly more popular option than traditional offline advertising.

Before starting with this “business”, you need to know a handful of things including SEO (Search Engine Optimization), Google ranking, tools for your content, such as content plagiarism checkers. Also, free-stock images, some design (eye catchy stuff), the meaning and difference of User Experience UX and User Interface UI, social media marketing & how to run your networks adequately, development of your blog and its security, email list building etc.

When building a particular niche you need to be careful with your UX and UI. I also recommend focusing mostly on these two aspects, as well as SEO.

Moreover, be cautious with laws, especially when it comes to the images that you’ll be using on your website, as well as the content. It would be very risky for it to be plagiarism. Additionally, one of the most important things when owning a website is to possess excellent writing skills.

Last but not least, make sure you know just how important is social media when you are trying to grow your page and make money out of it.

Remember, this is a long-term investment. You probably won’t make money immediately. It might take you up to a few years of investments. Both time and money.

A piece of friendly advice for you — if you are not ready for it, don’t even try it.

Start an eCommerce Site (Sell Whatever You Want)

Setting up a virtual shop and selling items has never been easier. Countless websites offer this kind of guidance and support. However, Shopify is the one I would highly recommend building a customizable, powerful eCommerce website.

Making money from an eCommerce website has always been considered as one of the easiest ways of earning cash if you are a creative individual. Even though you can gain way more money by designing your own product, it is a process that is much riskier and is recommended for experienced entrepreneurs only.

However, choosing a product that is already across the markets and has a reasonable price, then redesigning it and selling it for higher prices on domestic online marketplaces, is proven to be a process that is recommended for a start-up, an experienced entrepreneur or even a company.

Furthermore, there are many things that need to be considered and reviewed. For example, how much stock are you going to carry, where are you going to store your goods and how you are going to fund your purchases.

Another option you can consider is drop shipping. It is an incredibly popular alternative.

It works in a way that you are partnering with a manufacturer or wholesaler to sell their products. With drop shipping, you are basically creating a website as a network between the customer and the store itself. Although the customer is buying the goods directly from you, you have no inventory, nor you are handling the products yourself. However, the disadvantages of this process are the lowered margins.

Before starting with this online business, you should learn a thing-or-two about drop shipping, including the following:

  • Learn to follow trends.

This is essential if you want to earn money and many tools that can help you with it.

For example, Most Selling Products in the Last 24 hours, Last 168 hours, 7 days etc.

They are available for pretty much every platform, including Amazon, eBay, etc.

  • Build a trustable payment method.

It’s simple. You need to make sure that people trust you with their credit card information. You can use Payoneer, PayPal, or other trustworthy methods.

  • Learn at least the basics of designing.

People are drawn to eye-appealing things, such as fine colors and a good design. Make sure you understand at the least the basic rules for starters, in order for your eCommerce business to be attractive for your potential customers. Besides, you can learn a thing or two about UX and UI.

  • Develop a website.

Yes, you will need one. However, in this case, the focus should be set on the products you are offering. Nevertheless, a good and eye-catching website is crucial if you want to earn money online.

  • Run ads & good video content.

I personally suggest you focus on these two things, including Social Media.

The way you promote yourself is one of the most significant things in the eCommerce business.

With this business, if you are original and inventive enough to beat your competition in ADS and UX, you can make money immediately, even in the first week.

I feel obligated to point out that in this industry you can sell basically everything, even your personal things, such as books, hand-made jewelry, etc.

In the article below, you can find more detailed information on the whole e-commerce process. In case you are interested in this way of earning money make sure you check it out.

Freelancing

Over 54 million Americans have chosen freelance business over their traditional career. Today, there is plenty of work and clients to be found. You just need to know where to look. If you are only getting started on this business, you can begin with UpWork, Freelancer or Guru.

However, having a marketable skill is essential and the key factor for this job. If you are good at writing, designing, web development, marketing, or project management, then you are definitely an excellent fit for freelancing.

The process of starting your own freelance business is not simple, nor easy. However, there are a few key points which require special attention.

First of all, you must decide what your goal is and choose your niche. Make sure it is a profitable one. Then, you need to target a specific audience and set up a strategy.

The final move is ‘hunting down’ clients, or more exactly — outreach. Reach out to your potential clients, via email or LinkedIn. Once you get your first client, you can officially declare yourself as a freelancer.

From my personal experience, I would recommend you to be patient and work on building a portfolio, above everything else. Freelancing is on the rise and it will get much more valuable in the next 10 years.

Additionally, I advise you to start working, even if it’s for free. Gaining experience is what matters the most at the beginning. Try not to ask too many questions.

Instead, you can always google something, as Google knows everything. However, if you can’t find something it’s perfectly fine to ask a question, as you need to know what you are doing.

Be patient, hard-working, activate your LinkedIn profile and in a few years, you will be able to notice a tremendous growth. It’s another long-term career, so don’t expect fast cash.

When I was a little boy, I didn’t get to spend much time with my father because of his job. He is a bus driver, which means that I couldn’t see him for days. It’s what encouraged me to start freelancing at the age of 20. When I become a father and start my own family, I want to be able to spend as much time as possible with my kids and family.

In the meantime, my journey has brought me here, and now I am giving advice about it, even though I started from scratch. However, trust me when I say, freelancing is the no.1 choice if you want to lead a more fulfilled life, and to find your own happiness.

Bottom line, you can do whatever you want, whenever you want, and from anywhere in the world as long as you have a computer and internet connection.

Become an Influencer on Social Media

PS: It’s not about becoming an Instagram star.

Building up your Social Media account with a massive number of followers has become the ultimate trend these days. Moreover, being famous and recognizable on these networks can easily transform into a real, profitable business.

For example, major brands, companies, and even start-ups are willing to pay $500 — $5,000+ per post to get in front of your audience.

However, developing a great network with enough followers is getting more difficult with each passing day. Standing out from the crowd, among competition from all over the world, is pretty difficult. Nonetheless, rest assured that it is very possible.

If you already have a niche and you regularly post unique, quality content, you can quickly become an influencer. You just need to learn some tricks to get you started and expand your followers.

For example, many start-ups use hashtags as a tool for growing the network. Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and many more, find what suits you best, determine your qualities, and highlight your best abilities. If you trust the process, believe me when I say, it will actually pay off.

Being an influencer is not all about taking pictures and posting them on Instagram. It’s crucial to understand this. You can become one by solely providing helpful tips on YouTube.

Some influencers exist in much more closed niches, such as Medium, Quora. Others are podcasters, with podcasts gaining on popularity in recent times. Bottom line, becoming an influencer is a great opportunity, only if you are creative enough to make something that no one else did before you.

However, this is not necessarily the only way, as there are exceptions to this rule. Nevertheless, you can always try it and see whether it works for you. Be patient and unique.

No matter what your topic is — from traveling, food and clothes to something completely out of this world, such as a portraying yourself as a “crazy” cat/dog person. The goal is to reach a certain audience, and by being unique you will manage to do this.

The most important thing at the end of the day is to start doing this. But remember, you should not do it solely for the money, because then you are at a loss. Start doing it for free, the money will come eventually. Only then you are winning — again, in the long term.

If you are still thinking about it, then you probably didn’t want to become an influencer in the first place. Therefore I cannot be of help. If you are interested, remember that you need to have a huge experience in managing social media properly. Additionally, you will need certain tools that are essential for your future career. I have listed everything you need to know in a full guide on how to become an influencer that you can check out below.

Start Your Own Service Company

Are you good enough in a particular niche to start your own business? If you are, be certain that there are a lot of people out there who are willing to pay for your knowledge, time, and expertise. To simplify, I would say that starting an online service company is the same as selling a product, for example, your own branded clothes. However, in this case, the product is your expertise.

However, this way of making money through the internet is a bit different from the rest. Undoubtedly, selling your skills and advice is by far the most difficult thing on this list. Why? Because it requires years of practice, skills, and experience.

I, personally, would recommend to start off with freelance, and later when you feel ready to transfer on this. That’s how I did it. I started off with freelance and then transitioned into opening my own business.

The catch is to upgrade to that extent that you are now available to open your own service company. The cash is better, and you will be doing what you know best, meaning it will be practically effortless.

Moreover, finding customers for your product is now easier than it has ever been. There are countless tools and communities that make it remarkably easy to find an audience for your service.

If you master your knowledge and skills, and you really know what you are doing but prefer to do it over the internet, you can also start coaching.

Although you can only charge for your time, there are countless online coaches who have made fortunes out of this business. It is the quickest and easiest way to start out with no capital at all because all you really need is an account and to set your mind to it.

It’s a big step, and it won’t be easy. But, if you are confident of your capabilities, and you are prepared to take this big step, then I encourage you to do it. However, from offering coaching services, or selling your advice, to building a service company there is a huge range in between. This space can be filed only with enough experience, and nothing less. If you are not there yet, don’t even try it.

If you are really good at something, it’s easy to make money. You can even start off by holding courses and webinars. That’s what coaching is really all about. With a little luck, you will ‘catch’ a larger group of people which will pay you for your expertise.

Investing — Make Money Through Online Market Trading

Last, but not the least — online market trading. Simply explained, this means buying and selling assets on the internet. Online trading includes stocks, bonds, currencies, EFTs, and from lately something that has become largely popular — cryptocurrencies.

In order to start trading these digital assets, you will need a crypto wallet and an exchange to trade on, first. Many of the basic investing rules can be applied to these coins and their trading. I would not recommend it for beginners unless you do full research and have some background in this field. If you are a beginner my advice would be to consider trading cryptocurrency stocks instead.

Online market trading might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but in reality, it’s one of the best ways to earn money online. For many people, this idea sounds unappealing, borderline boring, but with enough knowledge and experience, you can make a profit by simply investing in the right market.

Needless to say, this is also long-term. Of course, you can gain quick cash by investing. However, if you really want to make a profit, the best thing that you can do is study the markets and analyze your possibilities. After making a good strategy, as well as an exit alternative, only then should you indulge in market trading.

Things That You Need to Avoid

If you take ten minutes to make a research on Google for the “best ways to earn money online” you will certainly run into more than only six options.

Some guides and articles offer all kinds of solutions, with things that make or don’t make sense.

Some of the results you run into should definitely be ignored.

Despite popular belief, things such as fulfilling surveys or clicking on images will not make you money. Or at least they won’t make you enough.

You will run into scams, websites that use cheap tricks to take your money or misguiding offers that will raise up your hopes in vain.

And I say this from experience. For a long time, I thought that I could make easy money from completing simple tasks, but I ended up losing precious time and gaining nothing.

Don’t get me wrong. You can earn money, but it’s simply not worth it for the time you spend doing this. Imagine clicking for six hours per day, just to earn a couple of bucks. Doesn’t sound appealing, doesn’t it? Now imagine using this time to improve your skills and knowledge and actually invest in your future with some of the mentioned long-term ways of making money online? In my personal opinion, that’s much better.

From the things, I found completely useless on the internet were the following ways to “make money online”.

Paid Surveys

If you search hard enough I am sure you can find a decent website that actually pays for the surveys you complete. However, by no means, you will earn close enough even to a decent amount of pocket money, let alone pay the bills with this.

Many of these survey websites are confusing and will spam your email inbox all the time. Others work through gift cards and points that you can convert into money. That is if you don't give up before reaching your first $10, $30 or $50.

Websites that pay for your clicks

Trust me when I say it, you will click all day long, and you still won’t notice any difference on your bank account. This is such a mind-numbing practice that only wastes your time and potential.

You could be doing so much more than clicking on images for $0.01, don’t you think?

But of course, this is my opinion from my personal experience and it doesn’t mean that you will undergo the same.

Pyramid Schemes

Pyramid schemes personally are one of the worst ways to expect to make money. It’s a business model that basically promises users that they will get paid if they recruit others into the scheme. They are unsustainable, and in many places illegal. However, there is a big chance that you eventually run into something like this.

It might even be hard to recognize them at first, but my advice is to stop wasting your time on this as soon as you realize what you are dealing with. Not only they will not make you rich, but they will also “steal” you money.

Usually, in order to enroll in such a program, the organization demands a certain joining fee to be paid from its new members. After you make the payment, now you need to convince others to do the same, and a small portion of the money paid from those that accepted will go to you. Eventually, you will realize that this is not an easy thing to do and that you are no moving forward.

Basically, you are somewhere at the bottom of the pyramid, while the people behind the organization are at the top and are getting rich while you spend your time recruiting people for their benefit.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Working Online

If one of the alternatives mentioned above seems appealing to you and you want to try it, keep in mind that you will be working from the comfort of your home, at least in the beginning.

It means you will have to deal with all the hardships that come with it. People tend to think that, for example, freelance work as something you do from home, is much easier than an office job. That’s where they are wrong.

One of the main reasons why people choose to make money through the internet is because it has countless benefits, sure. Not just this, but there are many nice things that you enjoy with work on the internet.

However, it is not all that good as there are also some downsides to it.

Not everyone is suitable for this type of work. Some people are just more fitting for a 9 to 5 job. But before you decide anything, you should first see if you are up to the task or not by looking at both the pros and cons of making money online.

Now, let’s quickly go over them.

Pros of Working Online

  • Reduced Expenses and Commuting

How far away is your work? Imagine the volume of expenses if you travel by your car every day, and how much you will actually save. Not just the money, but you will also save on time. Working online, usually from the comfort of your home, means not traveling unnecessarily, which gives you more time for yourself, your friends and your family. It also means avoiding that awful 5 pm traffic jam that you just cannot avoid when going home.

  • It’s Flexible

If you don’t enjoy working from 9 to 5 every day, stuck in an office, and having to deal with all kinds of colleagues and possibly a bad boss, working from the comfort of your own home is the perfect thing for you. Of course, not everyone fancies this because it takes time to get used to all the distractions that come with it, and it can sometimes get monotonous and lonely.

  • Offers Many Opportunities

If you are looking for growth, the internet is one of the best and easiest ways to do this. Both professionally and personally. If you invest time in your skills and knowledge and keep updating them, no matter what you do on the internet you will be successful at it.

Cons of Working Online

  • Lack of Self-Discipline

Some people struggle with self-discipline when they began working on the internet for the first time. Others never stop struggling with this. In reality, it’s not easy to set your mindset to be able to work in a non-work environment.

One of the best ways to try and overcome this is by turning your room (or ideally spare room in your home) into your working space. Another tip is to dress in a professional work outfit. There are many theories that the way you dress helps your productivity. It stimulates the brain to take the tasks more seriously and complete them as if you would in an office.

  • Distractions

Even if you live alone and you have the whole house to yourself without anyone interrupting your work, there is still a countless number of distractions you will face. No matter what the obstacle is, it is easy to lose focus on yuor work when you are working at the comfort of your home.

To sum up, I would like to encourage each and every one of you to try out these possibilities. I cannot guarantee you that you will succeed. Moreover, I can tell you that you will fail, at least once. I have failed over and over again, I have tried countless times, I have tried different options, but I have never given up on my dream.

The real reason I started covering such topics is to show the difficulty of my journey. I have experienced a real struggle to get where I am now, and I simply want to make it easier for you to achieve a certain result.

I live in a small country, one where you need to be extraordinary in order to get noticed. If you haven’t inherited a fortune or you don’t own a big company already, it is almost impossible to start your own business.

However, I have never blamed my country. On the contrary, I am grateful for it, because it has made me who I am today.

Nevertheless, I am not where I thought I would be today. I am still improving and working on my brand.

I understand the difficulty of a start-up and it is definitely something I am focused on, both on my website and all of my social media accounts. If you don’t know where you are directed, feel free to check all of the advice and tips I have provided on The Logician.

I hope that this article was helpful, especially for beginners and people who want to become their own bosses eventually. I know how many of you are out there.

In a surrounding that offers nothing, be brave enough to take action and make something out of it.

Always believe in yourself and in your abilities.
