Make the right choices. There is no going back.
Don’t you wish sometimes that life had an undo button?
A single button that will erase your mistakes after you’ve made them? A button that will undo the words that you didn’t mean to say, or delete everything that you are not proud of?
We all wish for such a thing sometimes. And just like on a computer, the undo button in real life will get you to a point where you are satisfied with the results, and there is no sign of the mistakes you made.
It sounds amazing, doesn’t it?
However, life does not work that way, and you won’t get the chance to erase what you’ve done or changed what you did.
The truth is, life has no “undo button”, and that’s precisely what I wanted to talk to you about.
You see, we often forget how much our deeds and words can affect our lives, and we make one mistake after another. Sometimes we are not even aware of how much our actions can harm others until it is too late.
It’s that exact moment when people just wish that there is an undo button in real life, and use it to make up for what they did.
Life is not always easy, and sometimes we face challenges that take the best of us. We might make a mistake, or try something and fail.
Nonetheless, knowing that there is nothing that can be done about the past, instead of hoping to get a chance to undo things, you need to focus on the present and your future.
In other words, you need to focus on never doing the same things again, instead of dwelling on your past decisions.
If you are feeling this way at the moment, and you desperately need the “undo button” I am talking about, then this one’s for you. However, I am not going to present you with a solution that will magically make all of your problems disappear.
On the contrary, what you should be doing is facing those problems, and getting some valuable pieces of advice on how to overcome them and never repeat them in the future. Let’s start!
Come In Terms With Your Past Actions
We all make mistakes.
We sometimes choose the wrong path, say things that we do not mean or words that we do not realize how hurtful can be to others.
Sometimes our actions are not well calculated, and they present us with a bad outcome.
The truth is, we all make mistakes.
We all have, at some point in our lives, hurt someone, or hurt ourselves. There is a broad spectrum of things that can go wrong, and sometimes it’s impossible to predict the outcome or to even imagine how bad it can turn out to be.
Many times we make mistakes thanks to our individual traits, such as impatience, jealousy, fear or impulsiveness. It’s not an excuse, however, it’s something that is familiar to all of us as human beings.
But the past is in the past. Every mistake that you’ve made, every word you ever said. It cannot be changed, no matter how much we reminisce it or overthink it.
You can go to bed every night, thinking about how you should not have done that, or how better it would turn out if you did something else instead. But apart from not giving you a good night sleep, this type of behavior will make no change in your life whatsoever.
It will never help you change your past actions. Neither will it let you live in the present.
You need to stop living in the past and move on.
To do that, the first thing you have to do is to come in terms with what you’ve done and take responsibility. It’s not about how much you wish things would have been different, but instead how much you try to make them different now.
Your mistakes will remain yours, and they will stay in the past. However, you can choose not to carry that baggage with you anymore, and begin a new, better journey, and get a fresh start.
Focus On Your Present
Your present is really what matters. It’s what you do now that counts, even if you’ve made mistakes in the past.
The thing with holding on to the past is that it does not let you get the chance to fix the things you’ve done. Instead, it holds you as a prisoner in your own mind.
We do not get an undo button in life. But we do get the chance to fix the things we’ve done before it’s too late. And the best thing to do that is by focusing on better choices in your present. Right now.
The beauty of life is that every moment is a new opportunity to make a good decision. If you hurt someone, apologize and redeem yourself.
If you did something bad for yourself, think of the best ways to make yourself feel better and start focusing on the things you love and enjoy.
Life has an end date and it’s quite unpredictable. To be better, you should stop with the excuses, and make yourself and others feel better today. Not tomorrow, not when you have the time to do it. But today, at this very moment.
The future is important, but unless you start changing things immediately, it won’t be a pleasant one. Instead, you’ll remain trapped in your bad decisions, without an undo button to fix your wrongdoings.
Improve Your Future
We all strive to have a better future. Although the future always remains unknown to us, everything that we do is aimed towards having a better tomorrow.
Whether it’s our job, the people around us, or our self-improvement and growth, what we do in the present in a way gives us a glimpse of what is expecting us in the future.
And while we should all strive for more and for better, we need to learn that everything starts with yourself today.
So yes, focus on improving the future, but make sure you start immediately. The sooner the better.
Learn from your mistakes, but don’t let them define you or your future.
Finally, I would advise you to follow your passion and your heart no matter what you do.
Be nice to people, and treat them as you would want to be treated yourself.
Make your decisions based on growth and self-improvement. When you make a mistake, instead of dwelling on the failure, get up, and try again. It’s the only and best way to fix what you’ve done.
It’s the closest you will get to a real-life “undo button”.
And remember, living in the past or the future won’t bring you happiness.
You need to learn to appreciate the present and change your life starting today.
