Starting today will bring you one step further in your journey.
What is the one thing every person wants in this world?
I believe the answer is happiness.
However, we all have our own definitions of happiness. For most people, if not all, this is tightly correlated with success. And I don’t mean in the way this term is used nowadays. No, I am not talking about fame or money. I am talking about reaching your goals in life and overcoming obstacles that will bring you satisfaction. Successes that will make you feel complete and happy.
For some people, it takes years before they reach their wanted destinations. It also takes a low of sweat, hard work, and determination. It takes a lot of sacrifices and unconditional belief in yourself and your goals.
There are many success stories out there. Some of which you are familiar with, and a whole lot of stories that you haven’t heard but are worth telling.
Today we are going to look at the concept of “five minutes of fame”. There are a lot of different interpretations of this, and most of them are correlated with business accomplishments and fame.
However, this doesn’t necessarily have to be the case. You can have your five minutes of fame or success in everything that you are willing to achieve. I say willing, because there are a lot of people who want to get to some goal, but have been too afraid to try and get there.
My motto in life is and always will be to “start today”. Waiting for things to happen out of nowhere is a common mistake all of us do throughout our lifetime. It’s time to stop with this attitude and obtain a growth mindset that will eventually take you to your final goal and present you with your five minutes.
So how are supposed to do that, and why should you?
The Figurative Concept of “Five Minutes”
Five minutes are not really all that long, so why bother working hard when all you get is so little?
Of course, I don’t mean this literally, but once you’ve attained your goal, it’s a fact that this won’t last your whole lifetime.
But does that mean you should stop trying?
For me, happiness is something that we all should work for.
It’s not a permanent state of mind, but rather a temporary moment that we need to cherish until the next one comes along.
So, for that to happen, once you’ve reached a certain point of success, you need to keep trying and upgrading for that moment to last.
There will be hard times, and there are going to be days when you think that everything that you’ve done was worthless. That state of mind right there is why you need to keep pushing and trying.
We are nothing without a ‘purpose in life’. So give yourself one.
Ultimately, for these five minutes to last you an eternity, you need to keep working and upgrading. You need to continue adding up more and more.
In other words, it’s up to you to decide whether they are going to last five minutes, five months or five years.
Recognize Your Five Minutes and Grab Them
It could take years before something like this actually happens.
But it eventually will, as long as you don’t lose focus on your goal.
Think of them as an opportunity that you’ve been waiting for your whole life.
And with every opportunity, the best way is to recognize and grab it, before it is too late.
To do that, you need to consider several things.
#1. You Need to Start
No idea will ever turn into reality without you actually starting to work towards that. So the first and most important thing you can do is start today, start immediately and invest yourself into your idea of success.
Once you’ve started, life will put many obstacles in your way. Sometimes other people will do this. However, you should always keep a clear focus on the thing you want to achieve, and the ‘reward’ you are going to get out of it. Don’t forget why you started in the first place.
#3. Even Slow Progress Is Still Progress
Sometimes you might not feel as if you are achieving something, despite doing all the work. However, it might take years to arrive at your destination. As long as you are working hard, even if you are the only one seeing your progress, that still means that you are making one. Sometimes it is all that matters.
#4. Be Open to Change
On your journey towards happiness, success and your 5 long-awaited minutes, you’ll make some wrong turns. But these changes are inevitable, and as long as you manage to always find the right path again, that means that you’ll succeed in what you are doing sooner or later. So stay open to change, as it’s not necessarily a bad thing.
#5. Take the Risk
The only way to not miss your opportunity and reach your 5 minutes of success is if you are not afraid to take a risk. Make sure it’s a well calculated one.
Life is not going to wait for you, so make sure that you take every opportunity you get. Focus on your work and always strive to improve yourself along the way, because that’s the thing that really matters.
Why Stop There?
Why stop at the 5 minutes, when you can do so much more than that?
As I said, they can last you for as much as you want.
As long as you have a purpose in your life, try and do everything in your hands to fulfill it. And when you do, move on to the next one.
At the end of the day, the progress you make determines the person you are and who you’ll become one day.
Make sure that you always keep growing and improving, throughout your whole life.
Not only will you become a much better person, but it will also be a lot easier to overcome every obstacle you run into in the future.
Stop Waiting, Start Today
Finally, my last advice, as I said earlier, is to start today.
The sooner you start working for something, the faster you will see the results.
If you start immediately, you are one step closer to reaching the final goal, so stop waiting and lose the fear.
It will take a lot of patience, and a few mistakes along the way. But as long as you are making progress, even if you are the only one seeing it, that means you are facing the right direction.
All you can do from that point on is to walk straight ahead with your head held high.
Your five munites will come and you are going to reach that level of satisfaction and happiness that you’ve been aiming towards.
No matter what your goal is, whether it is big or small, each of us deserves to reach it. The point is not to get discouraged by the obstacles and failures in life.
You might be going through a rough time right now, but try to keep your motivation high enough so that you get through the day. Tomorrow is a brand new day, with new possibilities and many new opportunities.
Keep trying and you will reach your 5 minutes. They might be years ahead, but it’s time to start the preparations and be ready for when they come.
