Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. — Psalm 119:105

Autonomous vehicles compute through roughly one gigabyte of data per second. For reference, that amount of data is the equivalent of 250 bibles. In order to make sense of all this data — and act upon it — they rely on a constant connection to the cloud (internet-connected data centers). For an autonomous vehicle, maintaining this constant connection is vital. Without a connection, it is no longer able to perceive its surroundings, determine where it is going, or discern between courses of action. Essentially, it is stuck until the connection is re-established.

Scripture describes a similar relationship between God and us. In order to navigate through life, we are instructed to maintain a constant connection with God by praying continually and studying scripture. This is because a strong connection requires frequent communication from both sides. To sustain and strengthen a connection with God, He needs to talk to us and we need to talk to Him. And scripture tells us that God talks to us through the Bible, and we talk to Him through prayer.

Maintaining a strong connection with God will enable you to perceive your surroundings with truth, determine where you are in life and where you’re going, and discern between courses of action. As a result, you will be able to navigate through the ups and downs of life with wisdom and joy.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. — 2 Timothy 3:16–17

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. — Ephesians: 6:18
