Meditate while driving? Really?

Don’t do it with your eyes closed, of course! But if you do it in the “mindful” way, it can keep you focused and more attentive to dangers.

“Mobile mindfulness” can be a great alternative to driving while:

  • Texting,
  • Taking on the phone,
  • Letting your mind wander,
  • Planning the rest of your day,
  • Mulling over an issue or problem,
  • And many other distracting mental machinations …

Whatever you call it (“meditation,” “mindfulness,” or “really paying attention”), focusing on what’s out there, right now, is almost synonymous with driving safely.

>> The takeaway: It’s nice to know, if an accident should happen, that you’ve got auto and health policies to ease the consequences. But why not avoid the consequences … when all it may take is just looking and listening?
