I am pleased to have met two brilliant professors at the two-day workshop, “Applied Analytics for Competitive Advantage: Data Strategies for Disruptive Impact,” which was successfully organized by John Clements Consultants last September 5 & 6, 2018.

Professors Ikhlaq Sidhu (faculty director & founder of Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology at UC Berkeley) and Paris de l’Etraz (faculty managing director of Venture Lab at IE Business School) shared their knowledge and expertise on relevant topics, including artificial intelligence, data analytics, and customer experience.

Here are some thoughts to ponder on:

  • Even if there seems to be a threat, it is still an opportunity.
  • Capture more data to better target the customers and deliver experience.
  • We need to build and maintain partnerships — even if these are with companies from other industries (but not totally different one).
  • Map your customer’s journey and identify pain points.
  • Trust is a big issue that affects technology.
  • Failure is about learning from mistakes.

Artificial intelligence, data science, cloud computing, big data applications in business projects — simply wow! We are just starting to appreciate these things and, for sure, there will be more exciting days ahead of us in this ever-changing world!
