PMAP 652nd GMM & Annual Induction Rite by Alice Llamas
Last January 29, 2020, the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) held its 652nd General Membership Meeting (GMM) and Annual Induction Rite at the Fairmont Hotel in Makati. The GMM started with a “wellness moment”, an opening prayer, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and the PMAP Hymn.
2019 PMAP President Gerry Plana then called the meeting to order and delivered his valedictory address. The awarding ceremonies for 2019 Presidential Awards soon followed.
One of the GMM’s highlight was the talk of Mr. Drew Fernandez, global chief people officer, Bottling Investments Group of The Coca-Cola Company, on “The Future of Human Resources in the Country (Insights from the Private Sector).” He shared the various programs Coca-Cola has done globally to ensure that their employees would have great experiences in the company. He further added that these programs address the changing needs of their people.
According to Mr. Fernandez, Coca-Cola uses the following points as guide for creating such programs:
- Purpose Driven — societal impact, environment, sustainability, and ethics
- Achieving Full Potential — financial and career growth, continuous learning, and leadership development
- Job Enrichment — digitization, employee experience, awards and recognition
- Engaged Environment — collaborative, networked, transparent, diverse and inclusive, and employee recognition
- Safety — safe work environment, evidence-based decision-making
- Working Environment — fair pay, stability, benefits, and work-life balance
Before he ended his talk, Mr. Fernandez shared a video featuring Coca-Cola’s “Total Well-being Program,” where the expectation is that employees not only “survive but thrive.”
Following this, Hon. Silvestre Bello III, secretary of the Department of Labor and Employment, did a short presentation on “The Future of the Human Resources in the Country (Insights from the Government Sector).”
After the talk of Secretary Bello, PMAP’s 2020 Officers and Board of Trustees were inducted, followed by 2020 PMAP President Louisa Mila V. Echevarria’s inaugural address, themed “People-Inspired, Heart-Driven, Tech-Enabled Organizations.”
