The Filipina CEO Circle Makes Us Feel Pretty in Preloved Clothes

I am always amazed at how sophisticated and elegant female CEOs appear to be. I can see how confident, independent, and powerful they are just by their outfit, and I think that every woman should feel the same way every single day. This is the reason I got so excited when I learned that the Filipina CEO Circle (FCC) would be organizing a bazaar. I knew that they would be practically giving away good stuff they weren’t using anymore, and I expected everything to be branded (of course).

The bazaar, or ukay-ukay, was held last August 30 at the top floor of the Citibank Tower on Paseo de Roxas, which was only a few minutes’ walk from our office. The bazaar opened at 8:00 am, and I went there at around 10:00 am, excited to see what they had in store.

When I arrived at the venue, I was welcomed by big sale items from S.C. Johnson & Son, Clorox, and Burt’s Bees. They were selling items for half the price and less! They also offered free facials from the Oracle Korean Aesthetic Clinic and provided free make-up application by their own professional makeup artist.

When I walked into the room containing the preloved clothes, I saw different racks categorized by price. For P50.00, you could get belts, gloves, earmuffs, and clothes for kids. They also had P100.00 items where you could get blouses, scarves, and random pants. On the other side of the room, they had the P200.00 racks where you could choose from dresses, tops, and pants as well. In the middle of the room were items worth P300.00 and P500.00, such as skirts, dresses and tops.

On the P850.00 and P999.00 racks, you could find coats, suits, and ball gowns. There were many varieties to choose from and if you had a good eye for detail and brands, you would find a lot of it in there. They sold brands like Barney’s New York, Zara, Anne Klein, Mango, Kate Spade, and more. I even spotted a pair of black Charles and Keith pumps for only P100.00!

Aside from clothes, they also had an array of accessories, bags, and wallets. At one end of the room were dressing rooms with mirrors so you could try on the clothes that you wanted to buy. They assigned 2 to 3 people to manage the dressing rooms. I tried some clothes on and went to pay — it was a good thing they had payment options, either cash or credit card.

I really liked the fact that the goal of this event was to empower women and help them own stuff that will be able to help them feel good about themselves. I think this kind of event should be promoted more in the Philippines to support and empower women nationwide.
