One of the reasons why I attended the HR conference in Miami was to get additional tips and tricks in maximizing the use of the HR technology, which John Clements had adapted for a year now. A number of my questions revolved around data model, workflow, metrics, sourcing campaigns, portals, tracking ROI of marketing activities, and many others.

As a true-blooded recruiter, I have always known that the heart of recruitment is sourcing. Thus, if this functionality is not strengthened, “right” talents will not be found. It’s great that the sourcing tools used by this technology proactively help recruiters find the “right” talent through smart automation. Recruiters can, instead, focus their energies more on answering strategic questions related to measuring performance, reaching service delivery goals, identifying bottlenecks, setting the right recruiting key performance indicators, engaging talents, promoting the employer’s brand, and many others that will help define the effectiveness of the system in terms of achieving business goals.

Different by design, the conference offered the Power User Track, which enabled its participants to apply the lessons learned throughout the day. Participants were divided into teams to work on different group exercises and scenarios. In the process of doing so, the participants were able to test their knowledge and, with the guidance of the implementation consultants, come up with best practices and solutions. This track also included live demonstrations of the functionalities of this HR technology, as well as power user tips and tricks. Overall, this track was most helpful in providing further understanding of the functionalities of the technology.

I learned that increasing adoption and user engagement can lead to successful implementation. Best practices such as preparing an on-boarding program, thoughtful review of the training strategy, coming up with internal support structure, and many other initiatives, have been proven to be measures of success. I am excited to continue my journey to transform the way we do our business.
