“You are not lost. You are here. Stop abandoning yourself. Stop repeating this myth about love and success that will land in your lap or evade you forever. Build a humble, flawed life from the rubble, and cherish that.”

It is all about the perception of a pessimistic term. If you let in the negativity, you are allowing yourself to imbibe and taint your qualities. On the contrary for me, my failure would be my first attempt in learning. And this does not stop here. You shall SAIL through it; that would be my second attempt in learning. What happens when you sail through something? You leave behind a TRAIL, right? Once you discover the path, that was always there, but you were oblivious of; all you need to do is seize the right opportunities in order to reach your destination. Every adversity, every failure, carries with it the seed of an equal or a greater benefit. When there is so much more to acquire from, leap into and grow, despite several attempts; why is it that people lose hope right after their first attempt?

We often believe or are made to believe that by not succeeding in a particular field or an aspect of life, we are letting down the people around us. What we do not understand is that the same people are fighting their own battles and have their own hurdles to overcome. What you should actually care about is working to build and shape a future, you wish to live in; that way you take a step forward towards achieving it, but if you keep dwelling in the past, you go back two steps. Two steps? That’s right because by pensively thinking about your past, you forget to strengthen your future and you also forget to live in the present, and thus your trail gets hampered and slows down.

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

When you look at the triumph of a person, do not just celebrate the achievements. Instead appreciate their journey, the endless hours of learning, the several years of struggle, their determination, the endless attempts they made to reach the apex. Everyone is born with some talents, the only difference being some figure it out early whereas some, later in life. If you have an idea, work on it, do not go about seeking for validation from others whether or not to proceed with it. There is a famous saying, “Too many cooks spoil the broth”; in this context it means too many unnecessary opinions impair your idea. In this battle of life, you would come across hundreds or thousands of people who would try to lower your esteem and pull you down but very few who would stick with you through thick and thin. Understand and appreciate them. Indulge in temptations once in a while but do not overdo it.

With a population of 7.8 billion people around the world, an individual’s journey cannot be replicated, it could be similar perhaps, but never the same. So to compare yourself with another is a sheer waste of time. Compete with yourself. Learn from your own attempts but never surrender to it. Do not give up on your dreams, because if that were true, we would not have Serena Williams, or Michael Phelps, Jeff Bezos, or Oprah Winfrey, J.K. Rowling, or Stan Lee. The list is endless and there is room for many more. It could be you, if you just be patient and fight back.

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”
