2020 is hella crazy, and the US presidency adds on to this year’s mayhem. Well, it’s not bad news this time but this news lightened up the whole world and grabbed everyone’s attention coz it’s Kanye West’s presidential bid.

The chaos started on July 4 when the 43-year old rapper and music producer, Kanye announced that he’ll be running for the US Presidency race. He pretty much dragged this topic at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. Also, he brought up his vision to ‘Make America Great Again’ and declared to be running as a participant from the formerly non-existent the Birthday Party(he says, “Because when we win, it’s everybody’s birthday.” Well yeah Kanye that’s what a ‘party’ is.)

But can hip-hop beat everything? Rap-battles are cool but a political battle?

People’s Feedbacks and Media convos

Kanye West’s tweet and Elon Musk’s response tweet

His tweets got a rollercoaster reaction, some celebrities like Jamie Foxx recoiled after this news, while some supported it. Katy Perry termed Kanye’s decision to run “a little wild”, while Will.i.am suggested that the presidency is “a dangerous thing to be playing with”. Elon Musk also reneged on his support for West following the rapper’s interview with Forbes while earlier he came up with a tweet claiming “You have my full support.” Also, 50cents called this all a “diversion”.

The California music journalist Adrian Spinelli stated that “It’s self-centered and a publicity stunt.”

President Trump sounded too unaffected about this race to win the White House, even supported West’s decision. Trump suggests that his relationship with him is pretty good and mentions that “He is always going to be for us.”

Current News

Despite previous reports that he has dropped out of the race, the rapper has taken his first official step to the White House. The political battle is not a five-finger exercise, but a full-on brain tease and one needs to sharp their brain-game. As per a BBC report yesterday, West’s name was no were to be seen in the Federal Election Commission (FEC) database. He was required to aggregate a particular sum of signatures and register in states before the deadline and he surpassed that limit. But Kanye is STILL IN the presidential race. A member of West’s campaign unit, Steve Kramer, had yesterday distinctly told New York Magazine’s Intelligencer off-shot that the rapper will no longer contest the election. Kramer told the media that “He’s out”.

But the latest suggests that apparently Kanye remains a presidential candidate. He has filed his official ballot paperwork from Oklahoma today. There still exists a chance for us to witness Kanye ruling the chartbusters as well as America at the very same time. And not to forget, Kim Kardashian as the first lady. Well, that could be a real glam administration for the US.

A Publicity stunt?

He earned the show buzz, in the music industry. Plus running a very successful cloth-line. So he knows how to play to the crowd and turn heads for sure. And that gained him some absolute criticism for the announcement he made, tagging it ‘a publicity stunt’. He is frank about his bipolar disorder, though he claims and many suggest that he was quite serious about the whole campaign, yeah sure. But this gives way to too many assumptions and points to integrate by the troupe of critics and the people against him. There is also a lot that professes that this whole plot is for his upcoming albums.

Publicity stunt or not, we don’t know but it is gaining some promising attention towards him for sure. People call it a maniac act and a lot more adjectives one can name. Everyone is like ‘Is this some kind of a joke?’ well, not anymore. Social media is crazy about this news, the number of retweets, and forwards in a small period is remarkable.

At the end of the day, meme makers are still happy.
