Toxic Beauty Rituals The World Needs To Get Rid Of!
The definition of “BEAUTY” according to the Oxford dictionary says, that it is a combination of qualities, such as shape, colour or form that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially sight. Surprisingly with the span of time the meaning has taken another turn. It seems fitting into the standard meaning of Beauty that the society has created is the new go to.
The soft fanaticism of worshiping clear and youthful skin is stuck in the system of all generations. People buy products that deliver instant results because bad skin is culturally seen as a problem. The judgment of bad skin extends beyond concerns about hygiene and disgust, to question about the inability to quickly be rid of a ‘problem’ that is both natural and requires patience and safe treatment to heal.
We look back at the previous generation and laugh about their follies wondering how dumb they were, but sadly without a doubt in 2250 they will say the same for us. The recent race is disturbingly a spoilt one trying to achieve artificial happiness through surgeries that are not even required. Surviving in the world that’s particularly image obsessed it’s mandatory the idea of promoting that appearance is not important as character is much needed. As humans we should be content with ourselves and not hung up on our looks as no beauty shines brighter than a good heart mate.
Since childhood fairy tales subjected the ideal feminine beauty in a form which related to being fair, thin, tall, well shaped body. This socially constructed notion for women to look physically attractive and make sure that’s an asset they must thrive for is where the actual problem begins. These standards of unfair judgment made for beauty doesn’t trap women only, when comes to masculinity men that conform to one size in weight are considered to be ‘feminine’ if they adore any products that’s supposedly are for women. The concept of how a body should appear completely, solely and only depends on us. Lets kick those stereotypes for a change that depends on your acceptance totally.
How much do you know about your product?
By the way, there is so much we aren’t aware of the products that are available in the market which claim to be gentle and safe but 10 years down the line might leave us infertile or with cancer. Some of them are probably dangerous than the tobacco industry because here we are talking about the thousands of chemicals used. Most of the time people tend to not read about the chemicals used in these products, it goes like if you struggle to pronounce something, it’s a good idea to avoid it e.g. Imidazolidinyl urea, a formaldehyde releasing preservation commonly used in cosmetics but on the other hand Tetrahydrodiferuloylmethane is a skin soothing extract from the turmeric plant.
These products or companies are telling us is that we aren’t ENOUGH. We cannot be hairy or we cannot be fat but we cannot be too thin either. Our natural hair isn’t pretty. The skin is too dark or too pale. The lips are too small or too big. The society has planted seeds of insecurity deep inside gullible minds that are constantly in a rush to grow, desperately desiring perfection, to which the idea is completely vague in the present day. They are making us question “AM I ENOUGH?, very necessary we stop pressing these thoughts and accept the way we look for we don’t need to get a haircut for the trend sake or switch to dresses to jeans. Find your comfort and live in it. Don’t let these drain your confidence to how someone else looks and make you believe that we aren’t pretty enough.
It’s simple if you want a beach body take your body to the beach, appreciate the stretch marks or loose skin. Just appreciate your body and sooner it won’t matter what the society is expecting. It’s time to wake up and breathe the importance of how we think about ourselves. Lets not stop believing its the soul that is truly beautiful and the kindness and unique self is the actual beauty the world deserves to witness.
