The Luxor Shriners are a community-based organization dedicated to providing expert medical care to children and families regardless of their background and financial ability. Collectively, the Luxor Shriners are currently supporting 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children across North America that deliver quality care for children facing a variety of different medical challenges. For an organization like Luxor Shriners, donations and fundraising are crucial to keep their daily operations running smoothly and without this income, most of the charity work they do would not be possible.

On Tuesday evening on January 20th, 1903 a group of Nobles from Karnack Shriners met at The Masonic Temple in Saint John, NB. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the formation of a Shrine Temple in the Maritime Provinces. Several times the group continued to meet along with other Nobles before eventually the name Luxor was selected.

The leaders of this Masonic fraternity hold fundraisers for their charity, The Shriners Hospital for Children, which has locations scattered across North America. The Shriners Hospital for Children works towards providing the highest quality of care to children with special health care needs ranging from neuromusculoskeletal conditions to burn injuries all within a compassionate, family-centered and collaborative environment. Additionally, the teams in these hospitals provide extensive education to training physicians and other healthcare professionals. They pride themselves on making their patients the heart of everything they do and use this as inspiration to continue to fuel their mission of improving the lives of these vulnerable children and their families.

These healthcare teams at The Luxor Shriners Hospital for Children conduct a wide range of research attempting to discover new medical advances that can help improve the quality of care and lives of these children and their families. The Luxor Shriners mission is carried out regardless of race, colour, sex or sect, disability, national origin or the ability of the patient or the family to pay. The pediatric care teams in these hospitals are led by some of the most innovative doctors around the world. They have treated over 1.4 million children since 1922 and invested $38 million in research alone in 2019.

As a community organization, the Luxor Shriners have focused their vision of transforming children’s lives by providing exceptional health care through innovative research in a patient and family centred environment. The Luxor Shriners are able to make this vision a reality through their fundraising efforts and the generous donations they receive.

Through their affiliation with The Lotto Factory, the Luxor Shriners have raised over $22,000 through their online 50/50 fundraiser. Through this platform provided by The Lotto Factory, users are able to purchase and play 50/50 tickets for a chance to win half of a continuously growing progressive jackpot.

The Luxor Shriners of New Brunswick are constantly working towards raising awareness and funds for The Shriners Hospital for Children. This non-profit organization is continuously making tremendous strides towards changing the lives of many struggling families for the better. Without support from the Luxor Shriners, many of these families would have been hard-pressed to find the resources they need. This is why community support is so important to these non-profit groups and organizations. Without the help and income from events such as their online 50/50 draw, many of these children would not be able to receive the help and support they need to get better.
