Whether your life is based around a plant-based diet or you’re just trying to eat a little healthier, sometimes it can be hard to find the perfect restaurant for a decadent night out. These are London’s best restaurants for vegetarians and vegans — we’ve only picked our top five in this article, but there’s a heck of alot more in the guide below. Check it out and discover your new favourite! Oh, and bon appétit.

Hummus Bros, Clerkenwell

This small but fast growing chain offers healthy homemade hummus and accompanying toppings, warm pitta bread, refreshing salads, desserts and juices; and is the only UK restaurant to concentrate solely on providing quality hummus. This made for one of the best quick, light lunches we’ve ever had — and not unhealthy, which is a bonus when you don’t want to feel sluggish! If you want a surefire vegetarian bet, then save this pearl for your next lunch:

Club Mexicana, Dalston

The permanent home of a Mexican street food team, serving up classic favourites with a vegan and vegetarian twist in a welcoming casual environment. Perfect for when you’re craving a veggie meal that isn’t the usual Lebanese or lettuce flavour palate — spicy, flavourful and authentic tasting Mexican. They also have a range of gluten free options, for when you’re really in need of a dietary delight.

Cookies and Scream, Camden

A vegan and gluten-free cookie bar for cakes, brownies and thick dreamy shakes, operating both on a permanent market stall and also in a shop on nearby Holloway Road. A range of teas and hot drinks are also available, as well as limited seating inside. If you’re craving a sweet treat then this should be the first place on your list. Naughty, but so so nice.

Wild Food Cafe, Covent Garden

A long-standing veggie favourite, this raw and wholefood cafe serves creative, fresh and entirely organic dishes. An open airy interior with wooden counter and tables provides adequate shared seating for the trendy crowds who go there, but our tip is to grab a takeaway and wander into nearby Covent Garden for a healthy lunch on the go.

Mildred’s, Soho

One of the three centrally located restaurants of the international-themed vegetarian restaurant micro-chain that favours organic, seasonal produce and wine. Whether you’re a vegetarian or not, this restaurant never fails to please — however it can get crowded because of this, so plan your visit accordingly. Our tip once you’re in? Anything with sweet potato in it — they cook it to perfection every time.
