African American Women Raise Standards

For just about..(pause)..forever, women of color in the United States, have been on the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to respect given. Black women, having the longest history of all women of color in this country, have reached new heights as of late. Recent studies show that Black women in the U.S are the highest group, percentage wise, of most educated.

Why this holds significance?

As if it needs an answer but Black women have never led the way in a category of education. For why they haven’t is a whole new discussion for a different day.

A higher percentage of African American women, roughly 9.8%, are enrolled in college over any other race or gender. This includes white men and women, Asian men and women, and so on and so forth. Of the degrees rewarded to African Americans, women hold 68% of the Associate’s, 66% of the bachelors, 71% of the Masters, and 65% of the Doctorates.

This is very impressive considering the obstacles a women of color faces on a daily basis.

With numbers as high as these, of course it will reduce the overall rate of poverty, force the inclination of equal wages amongst gender, and lessen the health risks that’s lingered around our people for years.

Keep slaying!
