‘BMF’ Season 2 Episode 2 ‘Family Business’
The latest STARZ and Curtis “50 Cent” — produced crime drama takes place in Detroit where the infamous Black Mafia Family was founded. BMF tells that story with culture editor Bianca Gregg recapping each episode weekly.
The latest episode of ‘BMF’ gave me one huge take away, no one in the family actually likes Charles and rightfully so!
Terry is not having the best luck with the car service business. He is cussing out white folks left and right trying to earn a quick fifty dollars after a hard day of driving. He pays a visit to his crush Markisha to find out how his insurance would be affected by adding an additional driver. Markisha breaks Terry off with some advice. She suggests he goes to the airport and grab clientele considering it will make Terry much more money. She also advises him to step the experience up because that is what will set his car service apart from the others.
Terry takes Markisha’s advice and after a very successful day of driving, brings the new ideas to his father. Now ya’ll know Charles gonna be the same ol’ hater he’s been since season one — he shuts Terry down.
Charles is making more enemies than anything else in his own home. Lucille discovers some filthy magazines that Charles had hidden from her and our good sis decides to take matters into her own hands. She heads down to the mall to get some new items for herself and Nicole ahead of their trip to her mother’s house. Once the cashier offers Lucille a store card, she decides some new bras for Nicole and some fly church lady two piece sets are in order. You betta step Lucille!
B-Mickie ain’t need much to flip chile. After Officer Bryant offers to put his mother into a better facility to treat her dementia Mick starts singing on the operation, offering up intel on a meet up at the stash house where Meech would be. When Bryant and his team raid the stash house they arrest a couple of members and seize some drugs but — no Meech. Bryant indeed keeps his word and has B-Mickie’s mother transferred into a better facility, he calls himself and B-Mickie “family” now.
With Meech looking to expand BMF into Cleveland, he enlists the help of his younger cousin, James, who agrees to sell product out of a video store he works in. In order to get the product to Cleveland, B-Mickie was supposed to drive the drugs down to Meech but considering he has been busy caring for his mom and snitching, Terry swoops in to help. Terry comes up with the perfect plan to get out of getting jammed up at any checkpoints. He grabs Lawanda and Terry Jr. and replaces baby formula with the cocaine, the plan was seamless. Of course Meech refuses to thank Terry and the rift continues.
Meech’s idea of expanding in Cleveland is a great one. James seems responsible enough to handle business at the video store. Meech is introduced to a crew headed up by a guy name Terrell who agrees to sell Meech’s work. Upon delivery of the product, Terrell decides he wants to change the terms of the orginal agreement and receive a bigger profit. Considering Meech and James are outnumbered by Terrell’s crew, they temporarily agree. Clearly Terrell had no clue who he was dealing with when Meech surprises him at his mother’s house. After threatening both Terrell’s mother and his girlfriend, he agrees with the original terms.
Lucille and her mother have a heart to heart. Lucille tells her mother that she only ever wanted to make her proud and although Eurline expresses disappointment in Lucille marrying Charles and moving away — she is proud of her daughter. She commends Lucille for her strength. When Lucille gets back home, she seems interested in getting physical with Charles after her 3 week hold out. She throws on her more fitted church mama night gown and Charles seems excited until he whips out paperwork showing that Lucille opened that store card in Nicole’s name. I could just hear Lucille drying up immediately! I mean Charles could have gotten some sexual healing and confronted Lucille after a nap but no! Based on the exchange between them, divorce may be on the horizon.
B-Mickie finally reappears at the record store and Meech is updated on Terry coming in a taking lead on the drop in Cleveland. As a result, Meech let’s the crew know that if he is not present, B-Mickie is second in command. Lord, a snitch is now the big cheese!
Meech is awaiting the arrival of Terry and Nicole at the movie theater. As soon as they come in, Meech confronts Terry about toeing the line of being in the business or being out. The two brothers get into a fist fight with Terry eventually walking off. Come on guys, can we get it together like 702 said?
Takeaways:
Now how Lamar wake up killing people!? Sir if you don’t get a real meal first! I would have woke up and only requested some Mambo wings with lemon pepper fries and a soda. Death ain’t on my “Out The Coma” menu Beloved.
Terry so infatuated with Markisha. Acting his exact age chile!
Is everybody in Cleveland funny looking because Cousin James and Terrell were an odd pair.
Lucille’s reaction to them magazines sent me to the moon! Sis was so sick she went on a shopping spree. She knew EXACTLY where to hit Charles, in them dusty ass pockets! But not you putting that card in the baby’s name Lucille!
