The Houston Rockets have found their replacement for recently relieved head coach, Stephen Silas. Rockets ownership decided that a 59–177 record over three years was unsatisfactory, and after a short round of interviews, the Rockets quickly extended an offer to the former Boston Celtics head coach.

Coach Udoka is one of the many coaches to find success after spending time under the Hall of Fame tutelage of longtime Spurs coach Gregg Popovich. Ime is known for developing young talent while putting them in a position to win. In Udoka’s only season at the helm in Boston he led the Celtics to a 51–31 record and an appearance in the NBA Finals.

The decision to hire Udoka is a smart one for a franchise that found themselves at a crossroads. Do you let the young talent continue to develop bad habits under a coach that couldn’t connect to the players? Or do you bring in a coach that is respected for his X’s and O’s and ability to connect to younger players?

Both Coach Udoka and the Rockets needed a fresh start and I believe this will be great for both sides. Young rising star Jalen Green and his gifted supporting cast of Alperen Sengun, Kevin Porter Jr. and Jabari Smith Jr. will be able to learn what it takes to truly be pros and to win.
