The dynamic guard and hometown hero has surpassed Kelsey Plum at the top of the all time NCAAW Basketball scoring list. Clark passed Plum in 13 fewer games and still has time to run the record up even further. Making the record breaking performance even more impressive is the fashion that it happened. Clark scored a career and program high 49 points with 5 rebounds, and 13 assists. High level creation and scoring with ridiculous efficiency to match. Caitlin shot 51.6% (16/31) from the floor and 50% from 3 (9/18) with 8 made free throws.

Clark’s record breaking performance was just another amazing feat in a storied career that is still being written with averages of 32.8 PPG, 6.9 RPG and 8.5 APG. Clark leads the 4th ranked Iowa Hawkeyes in another quest for a Final Four appearance and hopefully a championship.

3,569 points and counting, so the question becomes what is next for Clark?

All-Time Scoring Records

There are two former hoop legends that Clark still has a chance to surpass. Kansas great Lynette Woodard scored a record 3,649 points in her 4 years at Kansas a record that has stood since 1981. For context Clark is the NCAA Women’s All-Time Leading Scorer because Woodard played before Women’s Basketball was part of the NCAA. Clark is on the heels of the former four time All-American and we will wait and see if Clark can surpass this long standing record as well.

Lynette Woodard

Acknowledging more women’s college basketball and Black history we acknowledge Pearl Moore and her 45 year record. Pearl Moore played in the 1975–79 and scored a ridiculous 4,061 points and also has the highest scoring game with a 60 point outing. Moore’s stellar career and scoring prowess provide one record that is within reach with 60 points seeming like an almost absolute possibility as Clark comes to the end of her days in Iowa uniform and likely becomes the number one pick in the WNBA Draft.

Championship

Being the all-time leading scorer and the hometown hero that leads Iowa to a Championship would be the proverbial icing on the cake for Clark’s storied senior year. Battling the powerhouses like South Carolina, UCLA, LSU and re-invigorated programs like USC would put Clark in rare air.
