If you have been on the Bird App (Twitter) this weekend, you found out that Elon Musk is single-handedly destroying what once was the place for jokes, drags, soapboxes and beefs. Creating a new way to get money out of users, twitter limits have officially been established. Users will have daily limits on how many tweets they can read — including your own tweets! Chile, Elon has gone off the deep end if he thinks Black Twitter, as a collective, is going to pay to use the app we gave juice to. Let’s be honest, Black people make that app. Our content is what tends to go viral and be wide spread among other apps — we not payin the five!

Here comes SPILL! Their motto is visual conversation at the speed of the culture. SPILL was founded by DeVaris Brown and Alphonzo “Phonz” Terrell, two former Twitter employees.

I have been on for less than 24 hours and I am loving it. The app is similar to Twitter but much more stylish and colorful. Users can like, quote, quote with comments and share — same as Twitter. Followers and people you follow are listed on your profile as “Sipping” and “Serving.” Users can create their bio and list a link to a website of their choice. Your astrology sign is automatically listed next to your name so you can easily block all of the Pisces without guilt — just kidding! As of now, Direct Messaging is not available, so if you are bold enough to shoot your shot — it will be public.

As of now SPILL is invite only and to be honest — can we keep it that way? I love the idea of Black culture moments occurring within an exclusive Black space. Granted this is not the first app to be geared toward us but something seems very promising about SPILL. Everyone that has downloaded the app has been raving about it. Yes, we have to adjust to the new landscape but it will be worth the time when you consider what is happening across social media as a whole. By now you should have your phone ready to download, so here is some additional deets:

Here’s Tea:

SPILL is still in it’s Beta stage so you have to get an invite code to join the app — so join the wait-list please!

Download the app to sign up for the wait-list!

iPhone users are in but like with most new apps, Android may have a very brief wait.
