Last week’s episode of ‘Insecure’ was the one many of us had been waiting for, the official reunion of Lawrence and Issa — a beautifully shot episode about happiness. This week is the apparent kiss and make up for Molly and Issa, or is it?

We open up with Issa and Lawrence doing all of the relationship things. From working side by side on their laptops to wild sex in the living room, these two appear to be back on. They have the classic conversation of “what are we now?” Both decide to just go with the flow. Lawrence has one more interview with the job in San Francisco so we’ll see how that all plays out. Issa reveals to Lawrence that she plans on helping Nathan move and she tells Lawrence he is someone she previously dated. Lawrence appears to be okay with it.

Molly is finally back to her therapy sessions and of course she is dragging Issa. Molly tells her therapist that she is not going to apologize to Issa, to which her therapist responds, “Do you want to be right or in a relationship?” Molly is reminded of everyone she has had discourse with.

The bottom-line now for Molly is; is her friendship with Issa is even worth it?

Meanwhile Issa is seeking advice from someone on her Lawrence and Nathan situation. She calls Kelli first and has to talk to her voicemail. She calls her brother and he does answer, however Amal is busy trying to wash down the spicy food he’s eating. He agrees with everything Issa is saying and is pretty much not a help.

I absolutely love her brother.

Issa daydreams of calling Molly to get advice and catch up, and sis is cursed out by Molly. Thankfully the actual call does not go that way.

Issa leaves a message to meet with Molly for brunch.

Molly shows up to brunch and it is awkward from the start. Molly clearly does not want to get into great detail with Issa about her life at the moment. They do share a few laughs which makes Issa feel they are on the right track.

Molly heads to Andrew’s afterwards and tells him that the brunch was cool but they did not discuss their issues. Andrew tells Molly she should have mentioned it and Molly is clearly bothered by his comment. He reminds her that he is on her side.

Andrew invites Molly to a Clippers game to which his brother Victor would be in attendance. She declines the offer.

Issa and her intern are still hard at work getting things together for the next event. Issa takes a call from Lawrence and finds out his final interview went very well. Issa tells Lawrence about her brunch with Molly and clearly both of these ladies have completely different views on how the date went.

Issa arrives to help Nathan with his move. She notices Nathan trying to get close to her but she keeps things platonic. She tells Nathan that she has actually reconnected with her ex. Nathan, clearly disappointed, asks if it is the ex she cheated on. Issa tells him yes and he laughs. Nathan proceeds to say he hopes Lawrence has his shit together this time. Issa responds by reminding Nathan that Lawrence can at least communicate and not disappear. Nathan explains that he did not disappear but he was indeed diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. Nathan tells Issa he did not want to say anything because he did not want to be called crazy. He tells Issa that she was a positive influence in his life and that he wants her to remain in his life.

Molly is back at Andrew’s with food. They discuss the basketball game that Molly declined to go to. Andrew asks Molly when she is going to be willing to fix things with his brother Victor. Before they could really get into it, Nathan and Issa show up for the remaining boxes. Andrew and Molly tell them to just stay for dinner and they awkwardly agree. It appears everything is going well at dinner.

Issa and Molly reminisce about Issa’s first place and discuss a drinking game they used to play. The guys show interest in playing but clearly Molly was not interested. Andrew gives her a look and they decide to play. During the game they run out of alcohol and Andrew gets up to get another bottle. Molly mistakenly texts Issa “See. I’m trying with her.” Yikes! Issa texts Molly back and says the text was not meant for her. Issa walks out and Molly goes after her. Issa tells Molly she is trying but can not do it alone. Molly states that they never spoke of the real issues. Molly eventually admits that the two have grown apart and maybe they just don’t fit anymore. Issa is crushed but she tells Molly there is nothing else left to say.

The two part ways.

Takeaways:

I would like to think we all knew it would not be that easy for Molly and Issa to make up.

Clearly there is trouble in paradise for Molly and Andrew. It was only a matter of time that Victor would come back up.

Next week it looks like Issa will have to make a decision between Nathan and Lawrence.

Um this season gave us extra episodes and it still was not enough. SEASON FINALE!
