‘POWER BOOK II: GHOST’ Season 3 Episode 7 ‘Deal or No Deal’

The Russians and the Tejedas are at war but Monet seems to be locked in to keeping her secret — a secret. She wants Gordo to stop seeing Dru but instead he threatens Monet with revealing the truth. The only way for him to keep quiet is to continue his relationship with Dru.

Tariq needs Lauren’s help to find out what the Feds have on him. He opens up to Lauren about what happened to Raina and that he did what he needed to do in an effort to protect his family. Lauren feels it is time to talk to the Feds but Tariq knows that’s a bad idea. He vows to prove to Lauren that he never tried to have her killed.

Brayden is upset that his friendship with Tariq is at a standstill. However he has bigger problems now that Keke is aware that he and Tariq are selling drugs at Weston Holdings. She promises not to say anything and compliments Brayden on how impressive the business idea is. She questions why Brayden is so broken up over Tariq considering he doesn’t really need him.

Monet seeks advice from Tariq on how to deal with the Russians and not lose her street turf. Tariq comes up with the idea to get the Russian’s next shipment busted which will take the heat off the street war.

Theo seems to want to remain in prison based on his practice answers for his parole hearing. Davis does not want his brother to die in prison and is willing to do anything to get him out. Saxe later comes up with the idea to bribe one of the members of the board to get Theo home. Theo, once free, finds out what Davis did to get him out and is angered that his brother would risk his career. Theo went to prison to allow Davis the opportunity to go to school and become a lawyer, he views Davis actions as disrespect to his sacrifice of time. He agrees to get treatments for his illness but wants nothing to do with Davis.

The Castillo Brothers are growing tired of their arrangements with the Tejedas. They want everything spilt 50/50 now because of the war. When Gordo sticks up for Dru, his brothers question where his head is at. They take it to a vote and decide to stick by the Tejedas with the current set up.

Tariq meets with Tate and gives him the tip on the Russians. Tate sets up the bust on through the FBI and gets to take public credit for it — boosting his campaign.

Monet and Kai share a moment together as the reminisce about the past. Monet wants Kai’s help with the Russians but he admits things are too hot right now for him to step into this street war. Kai is clearly interested in other things with Monet but we know she can use a man for whatever she wants. She can also see that Dru has Gordo wrapped around his finger which can work in his favor.

Salim makes a terrible attempt at winning Diana back with a poem and it does not go over well. When Diana walks away, Salim follows her and confronts her. He is aware she is the one selling drugs out of the candy store. He judges her for being attracted to Tariq and says her upbringing is why she likes a guy like him — a drug dealer and a murderer. He fires Diana from the store.

Tariq wants the picture of Noma’s daughter from Effie and she wants back in the business. The former lovers have an ugly exchange and Effie admits she did what Tariq was too weak to do — kill Lauren.

Brayden discovers a huge secret about Weston Holdings. The company is a big ponzi scheme being ran by his uncle and with help from Keke. To keep Brayden quiet, his Uncle tells him that he knows about the drugs he is selling at the company. Brayden is disappointed to find out Keke was playing him initially but she admits that she really likes Brayden and that they would make a great team.

Somehow, Blanca and Jenny are just putting everything together. They have a hunch that Tariq and Brayden are selling drugs out of Weston Holdings. The officers just need proof that it’s the same drugs from the streets. By a stroke of luck, they find exactly what they are looking for. A cup from the coffee business with an empty bag from the drugs. They finally have proof that all of the drugs being moved are from Tariq and Monet’s organization. It’s time to move in on an arrest.

Diana confronts Salim with the truth about his background. He is actually an adopted child of a wealthy white family. Diana threatens to expose the truth unless she gets her job back at the candy store. She also tells Salim to reduce his hours at the store to allow students who really need the money to work.

Monet pays a visit to Kai to ask for a partnership. She suggests a business and personal relationship, but when gunshots are heard outside — Monet attacks Kai with a knife. He over powers her but thankfully Cane comes in and saves her. Monet tells Cane to go check on Dru. While he is gone, she takes Kai’s phone and sends a text message to an unknown number saying “I think they know what happened to Lorenzo.” Cane appears to be suspicious of the text but says he and Dru will take care of it. Monet brings Kai’s head to the Russians, informing them that he killed Lorenzo to start the street war. Monet calls for a truce and the Russians agree.

Dru and Gordo continue to spend time with one another. Gordo gets in the shower and Dru sends a text to the phone number that responded to Kai’s earlier message about Lorenzo. Gordo’s phone goes off and Dru discovers Gordo was the one who killed his father. He grabs a gun and kills Gordo in the shower. Cane comes in to a shaken up Dru.

Tariq sneaks in to the Fed building to meet with Lauren. He plays a secret audio recording of Effie admitting to Lauren’s murder. Finally, she believes Tariq. When he questions how Saxe knew nothing about the RICO case, Lauren informs him that Saxe was working with the Feds.

The Tejedas have a family dinner but it is cut short when the DEA enters the home to arrest Diana for possession of illegal narcotics with intent to sell. Monet tells Diana she will come and get her. The family is blown away by the shocking arrest.

Takeaways:

Monet gotta know Cane is aware something is fishy. I just wonder what Cane will do with his suspicions.

Can we just assume that Cane and Effie will become an item? And how ill it change the course of things right now?

Lauren finally sees the truth and through that drops the bomb on Saxe. We are heading into episode 8 of the series which is notorious for a majot death, will it be Saxe?

With the DEA making arrests, Effie could be next if Lauren stands on the fact that she was the one who tried to kill her.
