Picking up right from where season three ended, in episode one of season four we see a stage quickly being set for Tariq. Ultimately, Tariq must figure out a final escape, once and for all, from a life some viewers feel he chose. Things have gotten sticky for Tariq, who has lost everyone on his team, minus Brayden — that is where we begin.

Brayden and Tariq escape from the warehouse leaving Cane wounded and livid because he still believes Tariq is the one who tried to kill his mother. Noma also wants Tariq dead after threatening the life of her daughter, who we get to meet in this episode. Noma orders everyone to focus on getting Tariq but Diana is concerned about Monet who is in the hospital fighting for her life.

Paz’s son, Angel, still wants to go after Tariq after he finds a connection between illegal green cards and Noma’s criminal enterprise. He voices his thoughts to Blanca, who encourages him to leave the case alone if he desires to have a respected career as a detective. The St. Patrick Family has always had a knack for beating a case.

Effie is in charge of getting Cane to medical assistance but he insists on continuing the pursuit of Brayden and Tariq. Cane, against the advice of Effie, pays a visit to the Weston's. He is convinced they will know where Brayden is.

Monet is in the hospital, dying and the spirits of Lorenzo and Mecca visit her. Both of her former lovers try to encourage her to stop fighting for her life because she deserves to die. They recant the evil things she put her children through and suggest the kids would be better off without her.

Back at Stansfield, Diana has second thoughts about killing Tariq, but Dru reminds her of what will happen if Monet wakes up and learns the truth about how she ended up on her deathbed. Dru and Diana rope Brayden’s sister Becka in hoping to use her to lore Brayden out of hiding. The plan works when Dru calls Brayden so he can hear Becka’s voice. He immediately goes after Dru even though Tariq tries to tell him to stand down. Tariq tries to contact Davis who is busy with two women but he answers anyway. Davis is no longer Tariq’s lawyer because he is in trouble with the bar.

Tariq and Brayden track down Noma’s daughter, Anya, at a hanger trying to leave town. Brayden and Tariq take out all the men at the hanger and the truck with Noma’s daughter speeds off taking her directly to her mother.
Noma is cracking under the pressure. She asks that $100K be put on Brayden and Tariq’s heads. Anya comes in hot at the house. The relationship between mother and daughter is a very volatile one. Anya is similar to the Tariq we knew in season four of the original ‘Power’ series, often questioning the decisions and secrets of parental figures.

Cane busts through the front door of the prestigious Weston home and immediately beats Trace, demanding to know where Brayden is. Brayden and Trace’s father begs Cane to leave and says they have nothing to do with Brayden now. Effie comes into the home, telling Cane they need to go. Once the pair leaves, Cane finally gets some medical attention for his gunshot wound. He and Effie get more honest about their feelings for one another, but Effie still has a soft spot for Tariq.

Angel discusses his possible case with his mother, Paz. He tells Paz he thinks he can get Tariq to cooperate since he has ties with Noma. Paz wants Angel to leave the case and Tariq alone, reminding him he is all she has left.

While on the way to meet Brayden, Diana gets a call that Monet’s condition has become dire. Dru refuses to go to the hospital so Diana goes alone. Becka and Dru wait for Brayden to arrive but Becka finally realizes things are off. She tells Dru she is going to call her dad and he attacks her. She pepper sprays Dru and gets out of the car. Becka runs into Brayden who helps her hide from Dru. Luckily Tariq comes in and crashes a truck into Dru’s car, giving them a way to escape.

Zeke’s spirit visits Monet and he is angry, accusing her of roping him into her lifestyle. She apologizes to Zeke and begs for a second chance to do right by her remaining children. He tells her it isn’t up to him and when she asks his forgiveness, he disappears. Is anybody else enjoying this haunting because Monet deserves.

Davis is fighting for his title as a lawyer but he visited by Noma who wants him to give up Tariq. She offers them the bounty on Tariq and Brayden’s heads but he doesn’t accept. Meanwhile, Brayden brings Becka home and his father exiles him from the family. His daddy is indeed a racist chile, I guess it truly runs in the family. Davis warns Tariq about Noma putting a bounty on his and Brayden’s heads. Tariq apologizes to Brayden for bringing him into the game. Tariq wishes to be a regular college student which he could have been had he not got involved in street life. Remember, that is all his father ever wanted for him. Tariq realizes he has a stash at Stansfield and plans to go after it.

Angel decides to go to Stansfield to question Tariq. The mass message goes out about the bounty on Tariq and Brayden and various hitters show up on campus, hoping to collect the bounty. Effie warns Tariq about Cane being on the campus. While in the parking garage, Angel confronts Tariq about the green card allegations and reveals to Tariq everything he knows about Noma. Why do folks always think it is a good idea to reveal critical information to an enemy? Before Tariq can admit too much of anything, the trio is shot at by one of the random hitters on campus. Tariq and Brayden manage to take the hitter out and corner Angel. Tariq points his gun at Angel and uses him as leverage to call a truce with Noma. He video-calls Noma and informs her that Angel knows about her criminal enterprise but if she takes the bounty off his head, he will handle Angel for her. Noma accepts the deal, but Tariq can’t move product for anyone. Tariq makes good on his promise and kills Angel to cover up the attempted hit on him. When the police later arrive, Tariq makes it appear like a mass shooting attempt was stopped.

Monet wakes up from her coma. Cane is upset over the truce and he tries to still go after Tariq even after Noma tells everyone to stand down. Dru catches up with him and tells him Tariq wasn’t the one who shot Monet. Cane is still suspicious of the entire ordeal. The Tejeda kids head to the hospital to see their mother. As soon as Monet sees her children, she tells them she loves them but she does not hesitate to ask who shot her and she wants them to find out who it was.

At the end of the episode, we meet Michael Ealy’s character, Detective Carter who Paz runs into at a church. She tells him what happened to her son. She knows her son was murdered and wants Carter to look into it for her. Detective Carter vows to take Tariq down.
