Tonight the family is still attempting to clean up the mess around the death of Buck Twenty. Raq is aware that some how the score will have to be settled after meeting with Unique at the cemetery. The streets need a body, as they say. Her fears for Kanan have her on edge. Refusing to allow him to go to school on his own and even allowing him to be in one of the stash houses to keep a closer eye on him. Although Marvin frames it as him learning the game, it’s really just a means to babysit Kanan.

At school Davina gets into a fight with another girl over Buck Twenty. Of course he was dealing with more than one girl at the time of his death. Kanan tries to talk to Davina about her fight but it is clear she is in mourning of her boyfriend. She questions Kanan on his assumed beef with Buck Twenty prior to his death but he tells Davina to ignore the rumors she may be hearing.

At breakfast Marvin, Lou-Lou and Raq discuss having to potentially move one of their long time stash houses because it is now in someone else’s territory. Raq knows they need to get a front. Lou-Lou suggests a corner store that is owned by a Colombian couple. Marvin meanwhile is planning a party to let the streets know they are still standing. When Lou-Lou and Marvin go to the corner store, they run into Famous and D-Whiz. Raq asks D-Whiz how he is doing and finds out his brother is home from prison now. She gives him a look, Raq is plotting. When she and Lou-Lou enter the corner store, the wife has a terrible black eye. Clearly she is being abused by her husband who makes it clear he calls the shots on any partnership they go into. After listening to Raq’s plan for his corner store as well as payment, he agrees to be a front for her business.

Marvin’s party will be at Hugo’s club. He makes an attempt to threaten Symphony but he doesn’t back down. Marvin clearly has a thing for Toni, the white girl that does not seem to like Raq too much.

Officer Malcolm pays Unique a visit to warn him that no more kids need to die on the southside. He also makes it clear that he is on the side of Unique running the Southside.

Raq confronts Kanan on where he got the guns for the shooting. Kanan admits it was by way of D-Whiz but that his crew is solid. The next day at breakfast, Raq tells Lou-Lou they will have to pull a “Reggie Jackson” and Lou-Lou clearly appears disturbed by the revelation. That night Raquel gets ready for a date with Symphony. Marvin’s party is kicking off and Kanan is waiting on D-Whiz to come over to the house to hang out. D-Whiz is on his way to go see Kanan and Lou-Lou pulls up. He tells D-Whiz that Kanan will be at Marvin’s party and offers to take him. Just around the corner, Jukebox is getting off the bus and spots D-Whiz getting into Lou-Lou’s car.

At the party, Lou-Lou pays a woman named Amber to have sex with D-Whiz in the bathroom. Meanwhile, Raq and Symphony are growing closer to one another. Raq admits she loves learning about the buildings and the community from Symphony after he assumed he was boring her with his school stuff. The pair share a very passionate kiss and Symphony tells Raq that he wants to take things slow, however Raq is ready to hit the gas with Symphony. They have sex. Back at the club, Marvin gets into a fist fight with some white men that were putting their hands on Toni. Lou-Lou and D-Whiz slip out of the club at the same time. They drive to an alley way where both of them get out to pee. While D-Whiz is talking about the club, Lou-Lou draws his gun and shoots D-Whiz in the head, killing him. Lou-Lou calls Raq from a pay phone to let her know it’s done. She lies to Symphony and tells him that it was Kanan calling to check in. And the betrayals begin.

Takeaways:

No matter what we will always have these layers of lies and betrayal hovering. Even though Raq felt it was best to have D-Whiz killed to protect Kanan, D-Whiz was like a brother to Kanan and he will not be understanding once he finds out the truth. My question is will Jukebox tell him what she saw?

This Jukebox and Nicole relationship just seems so sweet and organic but I know once Marvin finds out, he will do whatever to end it.
